New Kitchen for the spring

Norathesnorer · 04/01/2024 11:48

It really brought it home to me how bad my kitchen has got over Christmas! Doors hanging off at funny angles, stained wooden work tops and more!

I'd like to replace it with a shaker style kitchen and some proper quartz or marble work tops. Can anyone give any recomendations for kitchens and worktop suppliers please?

I am having a new kitchen for spring too.
In a previous house I had a kitchen from Magnet. I was happy with both the design and the kitchen.
This time I have heard lots of good feedback about DIY kitchens. Reports of good product and price. They have a tool to plan your own online but I'm not sure what I want so I plan to get a design from another company (Magnet/Wickes?) and then buy from DIY kitchens

Hello - I'm looking for advice on the best quiet and efficient built in recirculating cooker hoods. Also induction hobs.
Thank you.

We're looking at Bora, they have some really cool stuff.

Looked at Wren, Howdens etc but looking for something a bit more individual and bespoke. Any good experiences out there at a fair price?

We've used The White Kitchen Company recently for a small cottage. The units were very bespoke because of the awkward shape, the quality is very good and the price was very reasonable.

Thank you so much I have had a look and I think hey will be perfect for me. I am going to send them a plan to get a design and costing.

Well, I got my price back today. It's quite a big kitchen and the cost of the cabinets was £15,337 fully painted. I was impressed by the service, really nice people. Also that the cabinets come fully built with a top, apparently not everybody does that. It's a bit over my budget so I'm going to get some more quotes, but they are in the running. Any ideas for similar quality to get a quote please?

Getting quotes from Devol and Tom Howley, both companies look great on their websites.

Thank you.

Looks like I'm going to go with the White Kitchen Company. Had some quotes back from other companies and for a similar product they were quite a bit more expensive and delivery times were a longer. I want the kitchen for May so I'm going to order it now.

In the end we ordered an English Rose kitchen from Trago Mills who had a 50% offer at the time (now ended.) This kitchen is basically the same as Sheraton except that it is delivered flat-packed and a kitchen fitter is required to install it, unless the purchaser is handy and can do it themselves.

Still undecided about a worktop, it'll probably be laminate since we may not be in the house long enough to see it deteriorate.

Our previous laminate worktop from Magnet has lasted over 23 years, as has the Creda ceramic oven.

Norathesnorer · 26/02/2024 10:36

If you have enough budget, quartz worktops are a really good selling point. Interested to hear how it goes with the new kitchen it's always really exciting to see the transformation. I have an installation date now. The White Kitchen Company are fitting on the 3rd May!

Quartz looks good but there are wear and tear issues. We're opting for laminate both on cost grounds and on usage (a positive experience over the last 23 years.) We do not eat in our kitchen. We cook every day and bake at least twice weekly and for us a good quality laminate will be more practical.
Good luck with your new kitchen.

@Norathesnorer is the 15k quote including installation and how many units is that covering. If you don't mind me asking.

Norathesnorer · 28/02/2024 14:10

No it doesn't include the installation. If you follow the link below it goes to a fully costed example including fitting work tops etc - https://thewhitekitchencompany.com/small-kitchen-example

There's also a quick costing calculator on the home page and more costed examples that I found very helpful.

We're staying in our holiday cottage where we just had a White Kitchen Company Kitchen fitted as we're moving house again. We had a quote from them for a kitchen in the new home which was good and I just checked it on their website using the new calculator function mentioned here. Couldn't believe how accurate it was! We nearly waited for their new English Heritage range coming out end March as the kitchen is going in a listed building but we need to order now for the 8 week delivey.

Norathesnorer · 11/06/2024 11:53

After a few building issues that delayed the installation of our new White Kitchen, it's finally in! They were very kind and kept our kitchen for a month after it was due. The cabinets are amazing quality, all made in lovely hardwood and oak which you can really notice. When the quartz work top was fitted it all really came to life! I highly recommend the White Kitchen Company for quality, service and value . Having a bottle of the special wine we kept for a celebration now in our new kitchen!

Great to here that all went well, as we can't recommend the White Kitchen Company enough. We changed our minds in the end and ordered the new English Heritage range we were totally blown away when we visited the showroom, its beautifully constructed and the showroom has really high ceilings and high units with appliances like Wolf and Sub Zero. It was a little more expensive but it's amazing. take a look - https://thewhitekitchencompany.com/english-heritage-kitchens

We've had our English Heritage Kitchen fitted by the White Kitchen Company and it's amazing! Particularly love the high wall units as we have high celings and the amazing green granite with the Bora extractor down draft extractor units. We even got persuaded to have a Wolf cooker and some Sub Zero things which are amazing quality. Don't think we'll be moving any time again soon, its so nice.
