Hi

Looking for some advice, am thinking of getting a new pushchair for ds who is 1.

Got mclaren buggy which is fab for around town but would really like a new pushchair for when we're out walks etc - have 2nd hand Jane just now - dh is trying to persuade me against this as ds has just taken his first steps and he's convinced he'll want to walk everywhere soon!

But I'm obsessed with prams and don't think ds will really be wanting to walk everywhere til about 18 months or so ?? Am first time mum so don't laugh if I'm being naive!

Quite like the look of the the silver cross s4 which looks a bit like quinny buzz but nearer my price range, anyone have one and can give an opinion, and am I being silly for even wanting to get one? Don't mind if ds will get a year out of it..

What Jane do you have? There's not many better than a Jane. Both the Buzz and S4 will be much heavier.
Maybe a Nipper with swivel wheel, or Mountain Buggy??

HMG what about the BOB how does that compare to the MB? My ds has been walking since 10 months and we still use a buggy lots and he is 20 months now. You can get a second hand Buzz quite cheaply now tho too. The 06 shape is much bigger than the 07.

Thanks for your replies,

I've got a jane powertrack just now, in red, but its getting a bit done now and battered looking. Also, I can't seem to find one of those "nest" type cosy toes for it iyswim, like the buzz and silver cross have. My jane's just got an ordinary fleecy one in it. I know it'll be summer soon, hopefully, but ds just doesn't seem as warm and snug in the pushchair as he does in his buggy with the thick cosy toes so I hardly ever take him out in it, which is a shame as I do like it otherwise.

Dh says you can buy new replacement covers for the jane, which I might look into. Will also have a look online just now for the mountain buggy and nipper. Certainly don't want anything heavier than the jane!

I've got an S4 and I don't think it's that heavy. Mine's the 2007 version, Jet Black colourway. Haven't bothered buying the official cosytoes - got a cow print buggy snuggle on. Only problem I have is that now and again the back brakes won't go on but all I do is remove the back wheels and then put them back on again. They're easily removeable (snap fit). I find the adjustable handlebar great as my dh is a bit taller than me and has it at maximum height whilst I have it in the middle setting. Lots of seat room for dd and the see through panel in the hood is good for keeping an eye on her when I have the raincover on.
Can't comment on the weight issue really as I haven't had a buzz or Jane but as I said before, I don't find it over heavy.

can i ask how small this folds thanks

mumtojandm · 16/03/2008 22:28

You'll have to wait until tomorrow as it's in the back of the car and it's raining here!!! If I remember, I'll do it when I get back from the school run. Alternatively, they might have the measurements on the silvercross site....

Found it here under dimensions

columbolover, whatever you do don't get rid of your Powertrack. I had one and so wished I had never sold it, always harp back to it and how good it was.
The others will be good but just not as light and easy to get on with.
S4 is 12.5kg which I think is heavy, especially if having to lift in and out of car.

But yes littlelion, BOB is fab, he is the easiest to push buggy I have had (and I've had a few!) easier than the Powertrack and the Mountain Buggy and that's with a 4 year old in it.

What about the Nurse Dakar on ebay that's made by jane? My friend has it and it's really light and think like the powertrack but half price on ebay at mo new?

Hi Colombolover if you really want a buggy snuggle for the Jane pushchairs look at the Johnston or Johnson (sorry cant remember which) youll need to google. They are in ireland but the suppliers of Jane for UK and Ireland. Theyve always been very helpful also when I rang them before buying my Jane pushchair a few years ago . Site has a retailer locator thingy to find your local UK shop. There were definitely some buggy snuggle things on there.

mountain buggies are fab. i finally got an urban one a few weeks ago. there is a bargain one here on ebay at the moment.
