Not me - but I "know" someone who uses Soulseeker - which is free but very naughtily illegal. But you can get what you want on there.

jingleballs · 19/12/2004 20:07

I use shazera u can download everything from there onto ur computer, DVD's etc.. but I don't think u can do whole albums u have to do each song seperatly.

onlyjoandthethreekings · 19/12/2004 20:17

i have tried to find one that is free but no joy, i guess i would like a free trial first

charlie01 · 19/12/2004 20:36

Could use soulseek, really good for downloading whole albums (not legally though!) Also no spyware/adware. Check out downloads.com for reviews on all fileshare programs and to link to sites. Depends whether you want to pay for them or not.

You can download from anywhere to get stuff for your mp3 player. You just need to check whether it will accept wma files as well as mp3, if not make sure you only download mp3. Advantage of wma is it uses about half the size that mp3s use.

my advice is don't - my pc is still very sick - cd's are cheap these days - I wouldn't want you to suffer what we are at the mo!

cd's are anything but cheap these days, jools, i disagree with you. if they were cheaper, more people would buy them instead of download, its the entire point everyone is trying to make in the uk to the music industry

Joolstide · 20/12/2004 08:48

cdwow - £8.99 - thats half the price they used to be!

I've had/got so many viruses, hijacks, adware, popups - you name it - I will NEVER download anything again.
Having said that I do know people who download music and don't seem to have any probs - I just know I'd never do it again!

My puter is still very sick and am trying to make it better!

jingleballs · 20/12/2004 09:06

we've never had any probs, and share our comp on Shaz as well, (although I don't know what has been done exactly as i'm not the tech in the house) but DH has managed to do it so we have god knows how many fire walls blockers ect.. and they can only access certain parts of our computer, but as I say I don't know how he's set it up. could ask him for u - but I prob wouldn't understand any how as when it comes to comps it's easier to let him do it cos he doesn't explain things v good with it.
