Hair products to use with hair straighteners?

Have been given an early Christmas present of hair straighteners - do I need to use some special conditioner or something to protect my hair? They seems very hot. My hair is cut in a shoulder length layered bob and its highlighted.

Any other advice??? I'm not very good on hair/makeup/products stuff

GHD do a hair oil for use with straighteners - it's quite pricey and you have to buy it from a salon (think you could get it online too)

most of the "straight hair" products available in boots seem to be designed for use with blow drying rather than with straighteners it seems to me

Have you tried it Space donkey? Doesnt it make your hair greasy? I'm a bit old to go back to that teenage look
Shoudl i use the straighteners on my fringe as well? When i tried it it made it all stick out like a scarecrow.
Sorry for the stupid questions but i'm a bit of a beauty products/gadgets virgin

awww! it just takes a little practice kristingle - to avoid scarecrow effect you need to curve the straighteners towards you slightly at the end

i've never tried the ghd hair oil no, i doubt it makes your hair greasy though

I use (on the once a year occasion I bother to straighten my hair ) Lee Stafford Poker Straight - you can get it in Boots. Does the job & smells yummy.

I didn't like the smell of the Lee Stafford stuff!! I've now found one that is the Boots Botanics brand - which I prefer the smell of.

I agee that most of the stuff seems to be for blow drying - took me ages to find any of the straighteners stuff.

Boots Botanics is my kind of price range ( not a designer girl). I DID have a quick scout around Boots (with toddler and baby in tow of course) and could only see blow drying stuff. So thanks for the suggestions.
