Depends what you mean by a decent one socci!
I'm not an expert on mp3 players, but there are basically two kinds - the little, smaller capacity ones (128Mb or 256Mb) or the larger capacity "jukebox" type ones (like ipods).
The smaller capacity ones are great - i've got a little phillips one that is rechargeable. Holds about 4 albums' worth of tracks. Light and easy to use. Costs under £100.

As I say, I'm no expert on this, but it sounds good to me. I think it's more dependent upon the quality of the recording than the hardware you're playing it on iykwim. You can have high quality mp3s and rubbish quality mp3s!

yes, any of them will work with any computer usually (i think) via a usb connection or cable
my little phillips one plugs straight into a usb port, couldn't be easier

yep, they'll work with any computer that has USB ports (i.e. any computer that isn't ancient). Check this with the retailer before you buy though if you're in any doubt.
I know dixons have an offer on a 256Mb mp3 player at the moment for some silly price like £30
