two questions:

  1. whats the best iyo?
  2. can you sunbathe or will it streak in the heat?

Sudo tan - its a clear lotion that gets sprayed and doesnt streak

Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 15:35

Ive used Boots Soltan in the past, and it really has been great for me, no streaks etc. But it was YEARS ago, and it did have a pungent 'give-away' smell

But can you sunbathe or do these things streak, I cant remember.

I've heard Piz Buin is good.

But I gave up because they all turn me orange and am just going for the pasty look.

I've been here nearly 7 years and can honestly say with the exception of the summer of 2003 I have never had occassion to sunbathe in this country.

Ledodgy · 05/03/2008 15:48

I like fake bake.

Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 15:56

the pasty look eh! cant be anymore pasty looking than me! I have red hair and am opaque white! Folk reach for their shades when Im around in the spring/summer - bit like snow blindness.

The real reason is not too far off, Im on hols to Greece, and am soooooooooooo not going over there without colour. Noooooooooo wayyyyyyy hosea!

There were some tested on gmtv a week or two ago but their website is so useless and hard to navigate that I can't find it. Can't remember which was top either, not much help was I.

noddyholder · 05/03/2008 16:05

st tropez everyday airbrush is brilliant I have red hair and am looking like a goddess with this stuff really easy to do and not too dark first time either.£17

dollyk · 05/03/2008 16:05

Hi wolfgirl I have used olays new face and body ones and they are fab you can get them in 2 shades, and they are not orange at all

chenin · 05/03/2008 16:08

St Tropez is really the best of the best IMHO!
Now for the science bit....
I got into conversation with someone who knew about these things and apparently it is the only one with a particular ingredient in it that will not let you go orange. I was told that if you leave a tiny bit of it out in the air for any length of time (like what is left in the cap or nozzle) it has a green tinge. And it has (I checked!) and there is no other fake tan that has this and this means you cannot end up looked tangoed! The person that told me this doesn't work for them!

I have tried loads of different ones and IMHO St Tropez is the only one to stay looking natural....!

noddyholder · 05/03/2008 16:14

agree helliebean it is fab and looks brown not orange.I have seen the green tinge too The everyday one is amazing colour wise really natural and I don't need to wear make up which is a bonus and I am OLD

chenin · 05/03/2008 16:14

FWIW I use St Tropez exfoliater, moisturiser and then their mousse (comes in a pack) and its brill

and

they have it half price in TK Maxx at the mo!

chenin · 05/03/2008 16:15

Not as old as me ... Noddy! (No-one is....!) I need all the help I can get!

Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 18:43

OP posts:
chenin · 05/03/2008 20:11

Wolfgirl... I am Bristol TK Maxx !! And it was in there the last time I looked... you have to root around to find it.

chenin · 05/03/2008 20:12

Must add... that was Cribbs TK Maxx...

Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 21:05

Yes, Cribbs, that is my nearest and where I will go. ye ha!!!!!!!! I will pop into tomorrow. Where abouts do they sell it? As you go in on the right, or elsewhere?

OP posts:
Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 21:05

oh and roughly how much?

SarahandImogen · 05/03/2008 22:53

I have used lots of different ones over the years. Piz Buin spray & Fake Bake being top on my list. But I have tried Piz Buin's gradual tanner - Summer Sensation - for the first time this week & think it's the most natural looking tanner i've ever used. It's usually £12.99 per bottle but it's down to £3.99 at my Sainsbury's at the moment so I've just bought 4 bottles!

chenin · 06/03/2008 07:46

Wolfgirl.... on the right as you go in. You have to hunt around all the stands with bottles on and there are a lot!
It is half price... I paid £24.99 for mousse, exfoliater and mousturiser.

I did notice that they had individual bottles of tanner for sale but that was 2 weeks ago! No guarantees that any of this stuff is still there... hope you you find it!

Wolfgirl · 06/03/2008 09:54

So ladies, do you have to exfoliate and moisturise before applying tan lotion? I never ever did, years ago when I used to put the stuff on.....

I guess now Im way loads older and have dry hard patches everywhere I guess it would be a good idea.

OP posts:
chenin · 06/03/2008 20:28

I always exfoliate and moisturise before putting st tropez on. I do it when I am in the bath before I shave my legs and then the tan seems to last much longer.

Wolfgirl · 07/03/2008 15:13

NOt been to TK Max yet, but I feel like Im leaning more towards the Piz Buins one that SarahandImogen has suggested, espesh now its on offer at Sainsbury's.

ooooh dilema dilema!! LOL

OP posts:
rosealbie · 07/03/2008 15:14

Wolfgirl · 07/03/2008 18:21
