There's something about multi-functional objects that really upsets me

FloraPosteschild · 04/03/2008 18:38

cam, I can see why the old 'vibrator/toothbrush' combo might upset some people, but surely not a toaster...

FAQ · 04/03/2008 18:52

I like this too!!

TalkroundupElf · 04/03/2008 18:54

Hmm wonder if mumsnet towers could arrange a little competition or maybe just give some away for testing

OP posts:
SorenLorensen · 04/03/2008 18:56

Not interested unless it can make packed lunches and get my kids off to school as well...

smartiejake · 04/03/2008 19:07

Don't know about a toaster but I have an egg boiler. Takes up to 7 eggs and makes perfect chucky dippy eggs every time.

TalkroundupElf · 04/03/2008 22:51

Yeah but i bet it doesn't do your toast at the same time

So mumsnet towers...reckon you could get us a few for a testing session then

I never use to like music centres when I was young either.

Cam · 06/03/2008 10:36

And those vehicles which are a car and a caravan. Motorhomes?

They bring me out in a cold sweat.

bran · 06/03/2008 10:44

The trouble with things that multi-function is when they go wrong you loose the ability to do more than one thing. And they are usually more likely to go wrong as well, like washer-dryers.

I think it would be a pain to get clean(sometimes eggs can crack when you boil them, then the pan has to be washed). I would only ever buy a long and wide-slot toaster anyway, so that I can toast awkwardly shaped things like naan bread.

katz · 06/03/2008 10:48

this is fab! i think DH might get one for his birthday, he has a poached egg and toast when he gets back from the gym this would be so good for him.

orangina · 06/03/2008 10:49

yes, how do you clean it without electrocuting yourself (assume they have actually sorted that one out...)

Cam · 06/03/2008 11:00

agree bran. Yes, washer and tumble dryers!!

I just think why?

Multifunctional always looks naff

FloraPosteschild · 06/03/2008 18:41

I love multifunctional. Argos is king of them - the TV that doubles as a radio, the microwave that does toast, (yes really!)

and does anyone remember those highchairs that turned into an indoor swing?

I always planned on geting one for my babies. Sadly they stopped doing them when I was about 14.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 06/03/2008 18:59

I also love multifunctional and want one of those. ( Except I know what DH will say - 'Yes - like that time ou wanted an amphibious car' - he always brings up the subject of the amphibious car)

Cam · 06/03/2008 22:38
