Fancy a pram challenge..?

Shhhh · 03/03/2008 21:36

Ok, please find me a cheap pram, for use on holiday so ideally very lightweight and basic, brand new BUT one that could possibly fit into a suitcase (aim is to pack it away on route to destination and use once there..)

Only compact ones I can find are quinny buzz etc BUT way to expensive..This will be my 7th pram in 3 years and I don't want to (and dh would kill me..) get an all singing all dancing expensive one..!!! .

This is your challenge should you choose to accept it. .

TIA X

a mothercare impro a quinny zapp

misdee · 03/03/2008 21:40

i think you'll be pushing to get one to fit in a suitcase, especially a quinny buzz. maybe the zapp would fit.

or the mia moda celeos ( ithink) suitcase fold, which incidently comes with its own carrybag.

misdee · 03/03/2008 21:41

mia moda rebranded as take -off over here

PillockOfTheCommunity · 03/03/2008 21:42

does it have to be new? I have one that folds very small and flat but I've yet to find them for sale new anywhere, although I've seen a few of them about

PillockOfTheCommunity · 03/03/2008 21:45

nope, just measured it and it's 76cmX43cmX14cm so too big anyway!

Shhhh · 03/03/2008 21:51

sorry meant..a quinny zapp

OP posts:
PillockOfTheCommunity · 03/03/2008 21:56

and I've just worked out it's made by the same people as the Take-Off one that Misdee linked to!

schneebly · 03/03/2008 21:58

www.babystyle.co.uk/easyfold.htm this?

Shhhh · 03/03/2008 21:59

POTC,I suggested to dh 2nd hand BUT he really wants new...it does need to be smaller than one suggested..wanted to put it into the case to get around airline charges for a pram..already taking one.

Misdee..thanks but to expensive . Honestly wanted to spend £30 max... Thing is it may be used on hol and then sold once home as don't think dd (2.10 years)will need it again. DD is on a buggy board now as of a few weeks ago BUT don't think hols would be ideal place to continue use iykwim..

Have seen ones on ebay, here new and catalogue rejects iykwim and looking at catergory a and b....BUT size is an issue atm....Just wondered if anyone knew anything more...

Ones on ebay are v cheap so may just forget size and go with one of them...also, anyone know pros/cons why so cheap..? even for new..?

Shhh - I have used that century buggy and it is good for an older toddler as it is further off the ground than some. Doesn't recline but good for the money.

DKMA · 03/03/2008 22:04

What about a Mutsy Spider? Seen some on ebay a while ago?

Shhhh · 03/03/2008 22:08

thanks schneeby....seems a good bet atm...

dkma, need something v v v v cheap..

no way geta buzz in asuitcase, zapp would fit.buzz not lighteweight it is 12.5kg

babyjjbaby · 04/03/2008 13:57

if u r already taking a pram can i ask why u want to take a stroller in ur suitcase also where will ur clothes go if u do find a buggy to fit in ur suitcase

scottishmummy · 04/03/2008 14:01

when flying i take zapp as i have always carried on as hand luggage.folds really wee

Shhhh · 04/03/2008 14:11

It was the zapp I meant.. I did correct myself earlier.

We used to have a zapp for dd but sold it last year as it didn't recline and with ds we wanted that option BUT thought we wouldn't need a pram for dd on the next hol..How wrong were we.!

We need to take 2 prams as we have ds and dd..!!!!!!
Yes, intend to take one to go with luggage and one to put into case to hopefully get around paying extra for 2 prams. If we take 2 cases we hope we can easily fit everything in. Since having 2 babies dh & I's clothing for hols is minimal.!!!! BTW Im an ex "20" pairs of shoes on holiday woman.! .!!!

babyjjbaby · 04/03/2008 14:15

ahh i see how old is ur eldest

Shhhh · 04/03/2008 14:17

DD is 2yrs 10 months atm and will just be 3 when we go away..ds will be 1 year.

DD has just started to use a buggboard out and around home BUT don't think this will be ideal on hol.
Off to Marbella and tbh its to busy to risk her running off etc. I also think she won't be up for walking much iykwim..

OP posts:
babyjjbaby · 04/03/2008 15:22

well if she is only 3 then surly u are allowe dto take a buggy for her anyway without paying for it it's not like she is 6 is it if i wasd u i would ring the airline and double check cos i am sure u can take 2 lol

mumofdjandp · 04/03/2008 15:29

COMBI DASH FOLDS TEENY oops caps

Shhhh · 05/03/2008 13:38

will look at that one now mumofdjandp, babyjjbaby, we can take 2 prams BUT will be charged excess for both as we are flying with a budget airline(bmi baby) and due to this they will charge extra for extra items. Cheap seats BUT everything else is an additional..!

Usually fly british airways etc BUT due to it being a short flight and we got a good deal we went with bmi baby.

Not a huge charge if we end up taking 2 prams BUT just wanted to see if there was any way around it iykwim.

OP posts:
Shhhh · 05/03/2008 14:47

mumofdjandp, to expensive.!!! This is my 7th pram..and there is no way I want to and that dh will allow me to spend over £40 on it...!! esp when it will probably only be used on holiday .
