Anyone have cable tv?

My fil currently has Sky tv but is moving to a flat in a couple of weeks, where they don't allow Sky dishes,so many of the residents have cable tv.
He has just rung Virgin to organise it when he moves and was told that the monthly charge is £50 which seems an awful lot-he currently pays Sky £45 per month.
I just wondered if anyone knows if there are any other companies that do cable tv as Virgin is the only one I can think of.
They did tell him that if he transers his phone to Virgin aswell(from BT),it will take it down to £48 per month, but he doesn't really want to change the phone over.
Thanks.

We have cable television - Virgin is the only company to offer this as they bought out NTL and Telewest, who were the other two cable companies.

We have the Freeview channels only, plus telephone (including free evening and weekend calls) for under £20 pm. I think you need to check out what it is your FIL is after. If he wants the full range of channels, then it will obviously be more expensive.

Thanks.I did have a feeling Virgin may be the only option.
He does want the whole package, like he has with Sky but I honestly thought it would be cheaper, especially as they keep advertising phone,tv and broadband for £40 a month.
I guess that particular offer is also just for the freeview channels.

We have virgin phone, tv with the top package and broadband which is only £40 per month or you can get the same bundle with slightly less tv channels for £30 per month. He should change his phone over aswell as this virgin price includes line rental which is cheaper than BT and it is also free weekend calls.

Thanks.
I just phoned Virgin myself and it looks like he got their prices wrong!
They are only 50p dearer than Sky for the same package,so he's happy once again.
