For girls.

Do you opt for leather, patent leather or something else? Mary Janes or trainers? Any brand recommendations?

I'm sick of having to replace ones that have fallen apart every couple of months...

Hi, I buy our dgd (7) school shoes every year. She's quite an active child and we've always gone with patent (and a bottle of the patent cover stuff for touch ups) and they've lasted better than I thought they would. Previously had clarks, startrite, Lelli Kelly's and M&S all last well. For some reason the kickers didn't. We've just come back from the shoe shop trip and ended up with Dr Martens Alias from Schuh. Patent t bar style which she chose herself as she wanted a more grown up chunky style. The seem comfy and hard-wearing but yet to be tested. I also picked up a bargain pair of Lelli kelly Irene in a closing down sale, kind of a completely enclosed shoe in a dm style great for winter. We had them last year and they held up, her mum sold them on on vinted when she outgrew them.. Wasn't to keen on the bow though. M&S do a similar style that have been popular on here.
