I have bought DS an educational CD rom, However I cant load it. I get a message telling me that I need to configure the video driver to 256 selectable colours. I have no idea how to do this. Can any one help?

Are you on a PC or a Mac and what operating system are you using cori?

i know how to do it on my machine, in your bottom toolbar thingy have you a picture of a screen if so click on that and it should give you the option on there, if not await someone else who knows more about tecno than me.

If you're on Windows you need to go into the Display control panel (Start > Control Panel or right click on a blank bit of desktop and select Properties). Select the Settings tab and there you will see a "Color Quality" dropdown menu where you can select the highest quality setting available.

Not entirely sure this is the right answer, but that's where I'd start!

Following your instructions spacedonkey, the highest colour quality is 32 bit. I have clicked on that, is not making any difference. AM still getting the same mesaage.

I'd try restarting the machine and attempt to load the CD again

When you're in the Display Properties (where you set it to 32-bit), Click on "Advanced" and then click on the underlined bit about info for running programs in 256 colours - this should help.

i have followed the instructions under advanced 'switch to 256 colours' but can't find the compatability tab.

You need to right click the icon for the program on the desktop or in the start menu and select Properties first, then you'll see a Compatibility tab
