misdee · 22/02/2008 12:11

what is your lifestyle like?

misdee · 22/02/2008 12:13

btw a carrycot is best IMO, get a car seat that fitsd your car and not the buggy.

bobsmum · 22/02/2008 12:15

I'm looking at a Mamas and Papas Skate atm which is a 2 in 1, but the car seat is another £100 on top!!

If I don't get that one I liked the spec on the Silver Cross Linear Freeway. tHere are loads of them online in last year's colours so waaaay cheaper and most of them have a car seat included which is a bargain!

I didn't want a separate carrycot to buy or store but I did want a "proper" pram for the first few months, so a 2 in 1 is our best bet.

I used the mamas and papas pliko pramette. and the car seat that goes with it. found it useful. Nine months down the line i'm thinking of getting rid of it now as I use my 3 wheeler more. Whatever you get make sure car seat fits in the car as ours only fitted in one of our cars and not the other so we had to buy another seat for it.

EffiePerine · 22/02/2008 12:18

We used the pramette, but no need for the carseat. It was important to me to have the baby facing me, I also wanted something lightweight as we live in a first-floor flat. We now use a 3 wheeler as DS is much bigger and heavier.

nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 12:31

i like the m&p skate or herbie, the mutsy, the bugaboo bee, the fisher price kuji (only ever seen it in argos though), the i'coo peak 3 and the traxx ecuador.

madmommy6 · 22/02/2008 12:32

I walk alot i.e.school run and local town.I can't drive but do pop out with dh alot on weekends. So i think misdee has a good point about the carrycot being better.
bobsmum i like the look of the skate.I haven't seen that one before.

nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 12:35

madmommy - just having a nosey at your profile did you know it says you have nine children?

bobsmum · 22/02/2008 12:37

I saw it in M&P last week and got a demo from one of the ladies in the shop - looks fab. They'd only had it in stock for a couple of weeks. As my parents are buying this time - I'm happy

The price includes the car seat connectors. the M&P car seat does fit v nicely on the chassis, but IIRC we had problems with trying to get their car seat to fit in our car when we were buying for ds - admittedly 5 years ago now. WE still have his Britax baby car seat, so unless there's an amazing deal on ormy mum and dad are feeling particularly flush, we won't be getting a new car seat this time (no3 baby).

madmommy6 · 22/02/2008 12:39

nappyaddict no i didn't know.lol
I'm going to have a look now.

Tigerschick · 22/02/2008 12:42

We had a Pliko Pramette and loved it. I still use it now if it's cold - DD is 23 mo so clearly I use it in pushchair mode. It came with a carseat which we checked would fit our car before we bought it.
What ever you decide to go for, do check out kiddicare. We got ours from there for £220 less than they were selling it in M&P.

canadianmum · 22/02/2008 12:47

mountain buggy urban with carrycot is fabulous. i walk everywhere and my 5mo babe is still in carrycot and loves it. Fabulous to push and really comfy for baby. here

madmommy6 · 22/02/2008 13:02

Ok i have decide to take misdee's advice and have a carrycot. It will need to be one that can be used over night i think,so i don't need to buy a crib.
So i think the skate is out of the running.Shame i did like the look of that one,but don't think the carrycot would be any good to use over night.

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 13:11

have you looked at any of the ones i posted huh huh

hettie · 22/02/2008 14:29

hi there- we went for a carrycot option and also got a compatible car seat (so 3 in 1 i guess). Big big advantage of carrycot that you can overnight in (ie has suitable vents etc) is that you can use it as a moses basket when away (actualy our ds slept in his for the entire first 4 months . We bought the bebe confort windoo and I believe this will fit on their lighter pushchair types (ie not just loola) which means you get that for later. A friend then gave us a mountain buggy (lucky me!) which I love love love- it soo bullet proof and great to push- but I know there carry cot if not for over night.... Jane and bebecars carrycots overnight too I think. BTW am thinking of selling bebeconfort stuff if you go 2nd hand...

hettie · 22/02/2008 14:43

the red castle citilink which is an umbrella stroller takes their carrycot- but not sure if you can sleep overnight in it....

madmommy6 · 22/02/2008 14:48

Thanks hettie i'll take a look at those you said.
Nappyaddict i'm going to have a look when i get back from school run.
I had to log off and do some house work, before lo's get back from school.lol

madmommy6 · 22/02/2008 15:34

nappyaddict i don't get on the pc much.Dd or dh are always on.Or i'm busy doing one thing or other.lol
I'll try and get on later.

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 15:50

shove dh off. women are more important

misdee · 22/02/2008 15:55

for overnight use as well, look at the silvercross sleepover, which includes everything and i think some are on offer at glasglowpramcentre.co.uk or .com cant remember.

also emmaljunga prams as well. built to like and wonderful to steer.

JingleyJen · 22/02/2008 16:05

we had this one
have used it for 2 children got it from Kiddicare and got a free M&P cot for buying it there.

The reason it was cheaper was because the colour we chose was "last years" but it was the one we would have chosen anyway.

We used the carrycot instead of a moses basket for the first few months. just bought a proper mosesbasket matress to go in it.

happy shopping!

babyjjbaby · 23/02/2008 15:14
