After long discussion - we need tabards - does anyone know where I can get some from?

Nice colours - not navy/pale blue/yukkie green/god awful colours - maybe a nice green (not too blue/yellow) or a deep purple

Not terrible white edging so you look like you are in a hospital

Nice big packets

Preferable not too expensive

Thanks

KMc

We wear tabards at work, they come from British Tabards - we have the one with the bug pictures all over it! Their service is pretty good.

PortAndLemon · 20/02/2008 15:10

Here, perhaps?

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 15:32

Thanks - I'm having a look

here? - plain, patterned and striped !

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 16:52

Not dramatically inspired ladies - but that could be because I've been to the dentist & had a crown replaced & I'm feeling all tearful & upset atm

Can you have some made ?

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 18:01

Maybe - I wonder how much that would cost....I think I know a lady

Tabards aren't the most inspirational things ever, are they!

Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 18:23

Not really - but thanks for asking (I have taken 2 prescription strength co-codamol & still feel like I have been smacked around the face with a stick)

I'm sorry but I really hate the ones with the bug pictures on

I really wanted something understated & classy - some chance huh?

I really hate the one with the bug picture on too! But oddly enough, the children adore it, and they react differently to the ladies who wear a plain coloured tabard than they do to those of us with the buggy one.

Do you have a wheat bag or hot water bottle that you can warm up and put on your face? It might offer a bit of comfort.

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 19:46

Good idea about the wheat bag, Thanks

Isn't that odd about the bug things - how about putting a really popular lady in a plain one & see if it makes a difference to the way the children interact with them?

Would be interesting, wouldn't it. Kids are strange creatures!

Hope your face is feeling better soon.

KatyMac · 20/02/2008 20:05

Thanks

Bump in case anyone feels inspired or knows something really good

why do you need tabards? my sister works in a nursery and they just wear a polo shirt i think.

KatyMac · 22/02/2008 12:27

We decided that polo shirts weren't very fair on a member of staff who has skin problems - she likes her arms covered sometimes

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 12:39

oh right they have sweatshirts too but i suppose they would be too hot in the summer.

KatyMac · 22/02/2008 12:40

Yep - that's what we thought

Whereas a very fine cotton shirt even with long sleeves would be OK (ish) in the summer with a tabard - not great but OK

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 12:46

do they have to wear a uniform? i know a few round here just wear their own casual clothes.

KatyMac · 22/02/2008 12:51

They have asked for one as they keep being thrown up on/wetted on (and one horrid occasion with poo )

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 12:54

yes i suppose i can understand that. with regards to the tabards do you want a wipe clean type one?

KatyMac · 22/02/2008 12:57

No - they can go in the wash (I will have spares if an accident happens)

I guess I am just fussy I hate childminding looking too professional

nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 13:06

could you get someone to make something like this

nappyaddict · 22/02/2008 13:12

or this but perhaps not in grey or pink or this?

KatyMac · 22/02/2008 13:58

Lovely (but slightly out of my price range )
