Thought I'd just bring your attention to it! Grin

cupcakes - Thanks for that! I clicked using Justine's link and I got standard delivery free. Is that working for everyone else? Or perhaps was it because I ordered over a certain limit? Mine came to £166. I also rang a friend who wanted to order something from Boden and told her that the sale was on and how to access it using the MN homepage. So, thanks from her, too!

cupcakes · 12/12/2004 12:04

It didn't work for me although it has done in the past. And I spent £220... Blush
But... some of that was for a friend and it was for me, ds and dd!!! [she defends herself wildly]

Cupcakes - can you help me with sizes please? I have never bought any boys stuff before my ds, has just had his first birthday and whilst not fat is quite long/tall for his age. Are Boden sizes small made etc... Hope you see this soon and can help as I would like to order before everything is sold out (just had a quick look and stuff is selling out fast!!)

Thank You
Fimbo xx

Hi Fimbo,
I have been buying for my ds for 4 years and find their stuff really good quality and really long lasting. Hence my huge buy at the sale! Their stuff is generally sized on the large size: 12-18 months is more of an 18 month fit. I do find their trousers quite long - but then I think my children have quite long bodies and short legs (I blame my dh!).
I should imagine 12-18 would be fine for your ds. I do buy in advance at the sales though and have just bought my dd some 2-3 tops although she still fits her 18-24 stuff fine (she is 22 months).
Hth!

Thanks Cupcakes. Started another thread by the way looking for you, so please ignore it when you see it. I agree about the quality my SIL has been being their stuff for years but I couldn't get hold of her to ask about sizes and the stuff is going really quickly. Guess what I am away to do now.

Thanks Again
Fimbo Smile

Oh and Mothercare (shop - don't know about on line) is 3 for 2 on toys +10% off today !

FimboCLAUS · 20/12/2004 13:28

Oh dear!! My ds is going to be tall!! Got my Boden parcel on Saturday and ordered all 12-18month sizes - they are fine for just now but by the end of January I reckon they are all going to be too small!! I blame it on DH he is 6ft 2

cupcakes · 21/12/2004 20:41

Oh no! Sorry to hear that Fimboclaus - feel I've given you misleading advice .
Look out for their clearance sale which will probably start after Christmas if you want any better bargains.
If it's any consolation I have sold a lot of Mini Boden on ebay and it goes for a really good price. So even though you might not get that much wear out of it you could hopefully recoup some of the cost.

Boden are pretty good with returns though. Call and see if they have the next size up. They're very helpful

FimboCLAUS · 21/12/2004 20:45

Oh Cupcakes its not your fault at all!! My dd is obviously very big for his age, someone else also told me 12-18mths would be fine as their child was nearly 2 and this size still fitted her little boy. I am just grateful for your help . Will def. try the clearance sale

Sorry to hijack slightly but did you ever get to Gymboree at Bluewater? I did but the things that were left were rubbish.

Yes I did but it wasn't great. I bought a lovely shirt with matching hairclips which I thought would fit my dd next year but is actually fine now (it's age 3 and she's not 2 yet). I also bought a patterned body just because I felt I had to get something else but it doesn't go with anything she has. But there was nothing decent for my ds...
Have just bought these and a matching t-shirt and hat from their website though. Incl delivery it was the equivalent of £28 so a bit pricey for an outfit but still...
If there's anything on the site you're interested in it has 20% off at the moment but it ends tonight...

ks - I've ordered loads from Boden over the years and have always found it very safe. No problems there at all.

Thanks for that Cupcakes. Have you ever ordered from Janie & Jack which is same company? Do you find it is ok ordering from America?

FimboCLAUS · 21/12/2004 21:10

Cupcakes just looked at what you order DD-those trousers are gorgeous. I might have a go at ordering from the website as DD is 6.5 and she could just about get away with age 7 which is where they stopped at in the UK and they go up to about 12 in US.

cupcakes · 21/12/2004 21:11

I have ordered from Janie and Jack once. This is only my second order from Gymboree. I bought a gorgeous jumper for dd from J&J which I had been watching and watching till it was eventually reduced. It came really fast, much quicker than I was expecting and the packaging was lovely. Like Gymboree it appears to come via Germany which may be why I wasn't charged taxes either time (touch wood...)
I suppose the only problem would be returns but I haven't had to do that - I think you have to bear the cost of returning it. Their sizes do come up small - definitely order a size (or two) up!

WhizzYouAMerryChristmas/Cupcakes-just had a peek on Fat Face website - and I am not saying anymore!!

miggy · 21/12/2004 21:43

fimboclaus-am I missing something-cant actually get to see the sale items? just a page saying theres a sale?
KS-have ordered loads from boden, only ever online and usually in the Sale. Just be careful as you only have 7 days to return unwanted sale items, otherwise they will only give a credit voucher (and to my shame-I have one sitting in a pile from 18mths ago as am too lazy to get round to doing a postal order).

FimboCLAUS · 21/12/2004 21:46

Hi Miggy, I got that too. Just click on kidswear page and the sale items come up. HTH

miggy · 21/12/2004 21:52

Thank you.

cupcakes · 21/12/2004 22:01

miggy - doesn't your credit voucher have a code you can apply on the website? Do you really have to do a snail-mail order?

OP posts:
miggy · 21/12/2004 22:03

No-its just like a letter, typed on A4 paper that you have to send in with the order.
They may be different now of course-this was from a while ago (pos even more than 18mths but dont tell DH!)

cupcakes · 21/12/2004 22:06

That's a pain - esp. if you are trying to buy in the sale...
