When we purchased a Meile washing machine just over nine years ago, we chose to buy Miele’s ten year extended guarantee. All has been as it should be up until a week or so back. The machine then sounded like a cement mixer. Our immediate thoughts were that the drum bearings were kaputt.
A Meile engineer was called. He plugged a meter into the machine which, presumably, amongst other things, told him the machine had only 800 hours usage. He also confirmed our suspicion that the drum bearings were kaputt. He called his office, went out into the garden and spent an age discussing another “job“ he had attended. When he eventually returned to our problem, we were told the machine was beyond economic repair. We were charged £160.00 for this information.
Meile suggested a new machine be ordered, against which they would allow the £160.00 cost of the did-nothing-service-visit and a 10% discount.
So much for Miele‘s ten year guarantee!
An alternative manufacture‘s machine is now here.
