These moisturizers with a 'hint of tan' in them, Do they work, anyone had problems?

I'm thinking of buying the Dove facial mousturiser that will give me a touch of a tan.

Will it make me orange like that bloke on the telly, or will it make no difference at all?

Is it a waste of money?

They do work and it just depends on your natural skin colour as to which brand gives the best colour, ime

The Olay everyday sunshine seems to get good reviews on here but I use the Johnsons holiday skin one as it seems to suit my skin tone

NomDePlume · 18/02/2008 12:24

I do tend to use it in conjunction with my normal moisturiser though. I put my normal moisturiser on and then a thin layer of the johnsons stuff once my usual has sunk in.

clumsymum · 18/02/2008 12:25

ar yes, the dove one does seem a bit thin, not very mousturising.

I've used the Olay body one & it works well if you can tolerate the nauseating smell it makes after you've applied it.

MrsMattie · 18/02/2008 12:27

They're ok. I prefer fake tan, though.

clumsymum · 19/02/2008 15:28

Ah, but I remember when fake tan was awful, used to go all streaky and very ORANGE.

Anyway, I don't have time for a special treatment, I just thought I could do it in my usual routine

I am ridiculously pale, used the dove one for a wedding and got orange legs. And I mean bright orange - meaning I had to wear trousers. Not sure if I should have moisturised as well?

holsobsessed · 29/02/2008 19:28

And also a bright orange neck......

missingtheaction · 29/02/2008 19:33

i used the L'Oreal one, best colour for me - very subtle and not orange at all BUT you do have to rub it in properly and not leave thick blobs on your feet or round your knees. But definitely better than either nothing or fake tan

bubblagirl · 29/02/2008 19:39

i dont use them on my face what i do is do legs and arms then add moisturiser to my hands then do face as it does give orange tint if applied directly

i just bought maybelline new one and its fab doesnt leave the horrible smell and you get to choose what skin tone you are

bubblagirl · 29/02/2008 19:40

obviously i meant it has one for light or dark skin not what colour you'll end up lol

bodiddly · 29/02/2008 19:40

My mate used the Johnsons one and ended up looking pretty jaundiced and yellow rather than brown!

PuppyMonkey · 29/02/2008 19:41

I've got a posh Clarins one and tis lovely...

expatinscotland · 29/02/2008 19:41

My DH bought me some. I didn't realise it had tanning stuff in it. Kept staring at my palms wondering why they were orange
