Does anyone have 3 kids and a VW Touran?

We need to get a bigger car and currently have a VW Golf. We are thinking of the Touran but not sure how to seat a small baby and two 5 year olds. I believe the Touran only has 2 isofix seats, the outer second row. So could I put baby in one of those seats and 5 year olds in the middle and side in high back boosters????

Any help would be most appreciated!!!

Looked at the Touran when we bought our Grand Scenic last year, when we looked at the Touran I remember thinking that the middle seat in the back looked very narrow and the sales guy thought it would be hard to get 3 carseats across the back and suggested putting one in the front and I sat in the back with kids! not sure if this true though as we didn't try it out Also there's almost no luggage space in back once folding seats go up, however with the Scenic I can get a M&P Pilko and a stroller in with all 7 seats up. I can get 2 baby carseats and a Stage 1 car seat across the back of my Scenic however like the Touran the middle seat isn't isofix. The Touran was our first choice until we went to see it then we changed our minds due to space requirements.

Hi canadianmum. We've got a touran. We can get 3 seats in quite comfortably, presently have a group0, group1 & group2/3.

Sometimes instead of the baby seat we put another booster seat in. So I reckon you should be able to get in 2x hi-liners (or similar) with either a baby seat or a group 1 when she's older.

In fact, I'll be able to try it out for you tomorrow, as we've got another hi-liner in my car. I'll let you know.

We usually have the hi-liner by the window, but I do know it does go in the middle too.

thank you kinki!!!

do you use the isofix fittings for the 2 on the outside??

Hello again. I tried the 2 hi-liners in the back next to the priori. Short answer is yes they do all fit.

Best to put the 2 hi-liners or similar in the middle and behind the driver as the middle seat belt clicks to the right - you have more space away from the larger group 0 or 1 seat. The 2 seats sat snuggly together, with no gap between them, but the design of the hi-liner meant that there was a little hollow through which to put your hand to click it in (bevelled bottom iykwim). Hope all this makes sense.

We've never used the isofix fittings, our car seats are all non-isofix.

As all seats are slightly different it would be advisable to check them out before committing to the car. Could you borrow some seats to try? Or take the car on a test drive via halfords?

Finally we were a bit limited in which car seats we could get, because we wanted seats that could fit in my rover as well. The shape of the seatbelt (where it clicks into) dictates which seats are safe or not. The seats I linked above were about the only ones that were safe in both cars. You'd probably get more choice if you are buying seats for just the touran.

Oh, iirc, the hi-liners are ok for the back row too, but not the priori.

Thanks Kinki!!!

I will take all of our seats with us for the test drive. I don't really mind my 5 year old boys being in just boosters for around town, but I really want the high backs for any motorway/holiday driving.

If anyone else has experience with 3 kids in a touran I would love to hear it............

we have 3 in the back of a touran - 1 in baby seat and two in high back boosters - but we had to buy whatever the hi-liner is called now to do it as the original two seats we had wouldn't fit. We use isofix for the baby seat and have the boosters behind the driver and in the middle. Love the car by the way - as we only use the back two seats if we ae giving other children a lift etc we find the boot plenty big enough and the whole car feels very, very comfortable and safe.
