Tamagotchis - ANYWHERE??!!!

DS1 lost his Tamagotchi on a half-term trip to Cornwall and has been wishing for another one since then. Naive mother that I am, I did not realise that they have become of this Christmas's must-haves so when he expressed a desire to have another one for Christmas (ONLY thing he has asked Santa Clus for)I trotted off to Woolies to get one - and then on to Toys r Us, Argos, Allders - you begin to get the idea. I must be registered for deliveries on about 10 websites but am beginning to think it's a hopeless cause. Apart from buying one off Amazon for £25, which comes from an affiliate with no track record, or dodgy-looking ones on Ebay, does anyone know ANYWHERE I can get one?? This will stop me from turning into one of those demented mothers featured on the news about this time each year queueing outside toy stores at midnight!

OMG, I am in same position, daughter lost hers and wants one for xmas, and i too thought it would be easy to replace. I haven't started looking, looks like I needn't bother!

whitepixmas · 08/12/2004 13:51

I've just bought one in Gamleys if that's any help.

KangaSantaMummy · 08/12/2004 13:55

what about small independent toy shops or model shops.

BerrieChristmas · 08/12/2004 14:58

Check whether Argos have them for delivery. Did this when we wanted them in Oct & couldn't get them at local shops - delivered them in 4 days.

Thanks everyone. Argos are out of stock as is everywhere else. Apparently, Hamleys do have them but you have to call the shop as they do not have them as part of their on-line range. I actually got through to a human being after about 10 mins and she tried the dept but they were not answering! Someone is supposed to be calling back this evening. Just in case, I have now called again and have been on hold for 25 mins! I live in hope ...

Crikey! I just walked in the shop and picked one off the rack. Even debated about which colour to have! Looks like I was lucky especially as we took dd to see fc on sunday and she was so awe-struck she just managed to whisper the words "tamagotchi please"

annh · 08/12/2004 16:36

Very over-excited now as have managed to place an order with Hamleys after holding for 35 mins. Delivery charge (standard) is an eye-watering £6.99 - God knows what next day would be! When I heard, I was tempted to ask the guy to hold on while I added a few more items but thought I should just be grateful so stuck it on the joint credit card - as dh was the one who refused to leave his £20m deal in the City to go to Regent St to pick it up!

Whitepixmas, DS1(6) also went to see FC on Sat and also only asked for a Tamagotchi - wonder what would happen if that's all that we get him?!

Too risky. He might turn up to see FC with a great long list next year and you would die of shame!

yoyo · 08/12/2004 19:40

Did they have the pink one in Hamleys? Fussy I know but even I think it looks cute.

Frizbe · 08/12/2004 20:00

If you can get one from an e-bay shop that should be ok, as these are usually held by reputable small business traders, plus e-bay are now doing an Xmas delivery thing, which will show in the title of whom your buying from, which gurantees Xmas delivery.

pipsqueak · 09/12/2004 16:58

my brother was in London today and very kindly got me one from Hamleys. There are none at the moment in shops in Leicestershire ....hope you find one in the end.

FrostyTheSurfMum · 10/12/2004 13:05

Don't know if this is the same, but I've just seen a "Tamagochi Connexion" £8.97 advertised in a Tesco flyer.
