Toothbrushes - how to recharge them - forgive me, I am thick!

Bought an OralB rechargeable toothbrush a while ago. It has not yet been used because I can't figure out how to charge it.

I plugged the 2 pin plug into the shaver socket on our bathroom light above the sink. I left it on the stand for hours. Nothing happened.

Please don't tell me I need to actually leave the light turned on or something, in order to charge it?

I am completely baffled and will kiss the feet of anyone who can point me in the right direction, thankyou so much.

Are you sure the shaver point actually works? It sounds like you're doing exactly the right thing, and that it's something wrong with the socket IMO. Do you have an adaptor so you could plug it into a normal three pin plug?

Ah. Well, I fitted it myself, so that is a distinct possibility...

I will get an adaptor and see if that works. Sadly it will then have to be kept in the bedroom or somewhere with a normal socket.

Thanks Waynetta, I sort of love you

Anyone think I am doing it wrong?

The socket does say 'shavers only' and the light works fine.

Reluctant to take it off the wall because I may electrocute myself...
