Are chocolate fountains any good?

Local shop selling them reduced for a tenner.

Are they fun fun fun and my life merely being lived in black and white without it?

Or will it join the foundu set/soda stream and water filter at the back of the cupboard?

it will join the fondu set/soda stream/water filter at the back of the cupboard.

Can you still buy soda stream then?

ds best ever party was with a chocolate fountain, but it was someone else party

UnquietDad · 12/02/2008 11:51

SIL gave us one and we have never used it. I find them weird and unhygienic and a bit 70s swinger party.

chopchopbusybusy · 12/02/2008 11:53

It will definitely join all the other gadgets in a cupboard, but if you have loads of cupboard space and it's only a tenner then I'd probably buy it, but would only expect to use it about twice a year.

DD1 really wants a chocolate fountain. Her friend had one at her birthday party about two years ago and it's still talked about! I have no space left for anything else so she's not having one.

Lol UD Yes I can see where you're coming from with that. It's the same principal as the fondu thing really. Actually we do have a pampas grass come to think of it. I hate it but dh can't get rid of it.

No don't get it they are vile for all reasons listed above! It will nestle with your breadmaker and popcorn spewer. I use my soda stream all the time!!

Well I went ahead and got one and you'll be pleased to know it was a disaster

You all said don't, but I still did. Despite the fact that it takes no less than four huge bars of chocolate to get it going and despite the fact that I thought the addition of oil was horrid I still got one.

Got it in action. Kids only mildly impressed. The heater on it switched itself off for some unkown reason so the chocolate started to set. The motor couldn't cope with that and started to make a funny noise and a nasty smell like it was going to catch fire.

Kids dipped one marshmallow each and went to bed. Dh (unimpressed) made a few pointed comments and mooched off.

The cleaning up was un-bloody-believable so back it went today and I got a refund.

So the moral of the story is, if you ask mn for advice....TAKE IT!
