Help! How does the carrycot fit onto the Mountain Buggy Terrain??

So I've bought a second-hand older style MB Terrain, complete with carrycot, but sadly no instructions.

Obviously failed to pay sufficient attention to the brief demo by the seller as I now can't work out how the hell the carrycot fits on to the frame.

I have an 'adaptor' of sorts - a metal bar (like 3 sides of a rectangle shape) which I think hooks on to the front of the frame near the wheel, kind of sticking upwards to support the carrycot. The carrycot itself has four straps with press studs on the end, one near each corner.

I can't work out how the straps are supposed to support the carrycot - however I do it, it ends up at a strange angle and looks very dodgy.

Anyone have any clues as to what I'm doing wrong? Would be vvvvvv grateful for any help as it's starting to severely do my head in.

Hi pixel - not sure - we have the mountian buggy twin - new model. the carrycot just has two black clasps either side which slide onto the metal frame of the buggy and clip down - it's a bit tricky to start with, but once you get the hang of it, it's ok. Is this remotely similar to what is on yours? If not, at least this will bump your post.

Have you tried looking online for a demo? Good luck.

Thanks very much Sycamore for the bump and good wishes, I was inspired to have another go and I think I have cracked it now (with a glass or two of wine to help me along ).

On the older models the carrycot doesn't rear face, that's where I was going wrong. What I has assumed was some sort of sunhood was actually what holds the pram to the frame, doh. Got there in the end.

sounds like what you have is the adaptor clips for the car seat. You need clips for the sides of the carry cot. Do you live in london? you can take it to lilliput in battersea to get the parts, otherwise go on the mountain buggy website, or call two left feet baby showroom

hi pixelherder.
the bar thingy goes onto the frame with the rubber coated looped bit on the outside, and the sticky up bit, (it's the only way it will fit on)

there should be a flap at the head end of the carrycot- that will popper onto the bars at each side (one of the ones on the middle clips round onto itself)
as you look at it from the front the strap on the bottom left goes down behind the bit above the footrest and there is a bar behind it that it can go round and clip back on itself
the one at the bottom right will clip onto the frame
back right poppers onto the frame.

I could never work out where the last corner strap went- even posted here about it but didn't get any answers!

fingerwoman · 09/02/2008 23:25

oh sorry, didn't read that you'd figured it out lol

PixelHerder · 10/02/2008 16:12

Thanks very much for your posts!

Fingerwoman - I hadn't got as far as the straps when I last posted but on reading your post it all makes sense, maybe the straps on mine are slightly different but I have managed to found a home for each stray popper, so hope it's right now.

Now - on to the car seat...

oooh where did you make the strap go that's on the inside at the back???

PixelHerder · 10/02/2008 21:22

Fingerwoman - I can't find one on the inside - whereabouts is it?

I can only find 4 straps with poppers on the actual carrycot, one near each 'corner' on the outside of the carrycot. These seem (now!) to fit quite easily to a nearby popper on the frame 'legs'.

The hood type thing at the head end of the carrycot has 2 flaps with 2 poppers each, which go round and pop onto the sides of the pushing handle.

Maybe they have realised their mistake and stopped making the version with the 'strap that goes nowhere'

Or is there an appendage that I have missed (quite possible, though I'm not sure I want to find it now!!)

sorry, I meant inside as in, closest to the middle of the frame, not on the outside.
so at the back, next to the other seat.
in my booklet it said it attaches to the other seat, but I never found anywhere to popper it to. there was no frame near enough either

PixelHerder · 10/02/2008 21:52

ah - are you talking about a double MB?

OP posts:
fingerwoman · 10/02/2008 21:57

oh yes, I am!
sorry, I just assume everyone has the same as me lol. shows how well I read threads

PixelHerder · 11/02/2008 11:09

lol can't help you there then unfortunately, I think the stray strap must only be on the double version as I can't see one on this. Thanks for the advice tho'
