Its probably a numpty question so please don't laugh too hard!

How do you keep newborns warm or dry in slings?

I can't drive so anticipate using them for a while but don't want baby to get soaking wet!!

They are warmer than in a pushchair as they use your body heat and as you are handsfree, you can use an umbrella for both of you (unlike a pushchair!!)

hunofmonsters · 08/02/2008 18:39

an umbrella !!!

Of course!!! how simple!!

what about if you have other children?

and are needing to support a newborn coz you aren't brave enough just to let go!

I do up my rain coat over the sling when I had a baby in a front sling.

beansprout · 08/02/2008 18:46

It can take some practice but they really are designed for you to be able to let go!

How old are your other children? Ds1 is 3 and can hold my hand (unlike when I am using a pushchair - again!!!)

hunofmonsters · 08/02/2008 19:09

ds1 is nearly 5 and i would call him a trusted walker altho i relaise he is only 5 and ds2 is nearly 3 and "getting there" shall we say!

I have this cardi that I had during pregnancy and I still use it with my hugabub sling. I've used it when it was frosty outside adn with a hat on me and lo plus gloves on me, he was toasty and so was I. Yes it's pricey but I used it when I was expecting and still use it now and will do for the forseeable future.

muppetgirl · 08/02/2008 19:18

Oh, and in my hugabub I don't feel I need to support his head so are handsfree to deal with my nearly four year old.
