Is it really worth paying for Sky's repair plan?

I've been googling a few forums about this and still am undecided.
Is it really worth paying almost £10 a month 'just in case'?
I've had my Sky+ for over a year now and apart from 1 complete reset, which the lovely bloke talked me through over the phone, I've never had any problems.
Would I just be better off sticking a lump sum in a savings account 'just in case'?
I'm asking you lot because I 'know' you and 'trust' you!

I just threatened to cancel phone, TV and internet when mine went wrong and they gave me a new one!

That's the lines I am thinking of.
I bloody pay them enough!
I need Sky+ as Ds usually comandeers the TV at the most awkward times!
Ah bugger it. I'm going to cancel it.
Just watch. It'll blow up soon.

Noooooo. It can't be. A very nice man called Scott Murray (apparently) called me a couple of weeks ago. "But a new Sky box will be £99!" he said. Much less than the insurance until the old box fails, I suspect.

Anyway, these days, even if you need to save up a bit for a replacement you can get the free digital channels from your aerial with the appropriate decoder, and they can be cheap. May even have a decoder in your telly or DVD recorder. So you'd still have Cbeebies in the interim.

I don't need Cbeebies. Ds doesn't care as long as he's got his DVDs.
I need the music channels, The Discovery channels, Sky 1, Living etc.
I'm just going to save a lump sum up for' just in case'. This is for after I've used the 'Bollox to you. I'm cancelling my contract!' line at them!
