Nokia 7500 can anyone help please?

I have had the 7500 for a couple of weeks now. I think you are ment to be able to hold the # key for a few seconds to switch it into silent mode, but mine won't work. Just wondering if there is a problem with my phone. Seams to work ok apart from that. TIA

does it not have a little button on the top that you press and then you can switch it off or put it on silent

I've just noticed I could do that on my Sony Ericsson phone - thanks . Does it have a musical note with a line through it on the # key? - if so, then I think you should be able to put it on silent using that key

Thanks for the replies, yes it has the musical note on the # key, but nothing happens when I press it. I had the same on my 7373 and that worked fine. I know I can switch to silent by using the button on the top, but just trying to make sure there is not a problem with my handset. Think there might be as some keys take a while to respond when I press them.
