Which washing machine. What brand would you recommend?

It looks like the current 8 year old washing machine is on it's last legs so I've been looking at getting a new one before it finally conks out.

The question is what brand would you recommend?

Any good reports of washer/dryers (we don't have enough room for a seperate dryer)?

Bosch. I bought it from John lewis and they price matched also so very good deal.

Price (if you don't mind)?

Bosch

Mine was about £450, but is just a washer, not a 2 in 1

Miele. Worth paying for a decent one. I've had cheaper washing machines and they lasted no time at all.

WinnieThePooh · 04/02/2008 13:13

I have this one It is expensive, but it comes with a 10 year gaurantee, the sellers say that they would not be surprised if it lasted for 20 years.

smeg

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 04/02/2008 13:16

mine is washer/dryer
Bosch WVT1260 Washer Dryer - £449

I just got a Zanussi 1400 washer dryer. It was one of the few recommended by Which? in the washer dryer category. I would have preferred to just get a washing machine but am about to have a baby so needed a washer-dryer and no space for a separate dryer.

So far so good. It was in a sale for about 270GBP but I actually got it because of the Which? recommendation. Would have gone for a Bosch washing machine.

so far so good. not tried the dryer

I used to work for a repair service and the engineers all said Miele..if you can afford it. They are supposedly designed to last 15 years.

Thanks everyone. I have heard a few negative things about washer/dryers however I would like to have some kind of drying facility. I had better get shopping around!

Bosch. I bought mine second hand anyway so don't know the price.

This is the best machine I have ever owned, and that is after having a couple of new ones (one a Candy - crap - and a hoover, also crap)

AEG. WE've had two of their washer/dryers. First one was a wedding present and lasted 11 years. Just got the second one last summer as a direct replacement. No prob at all with the washer/dryer and a godsend in winter! You can put it on to wash and dry in one so you just take clean dry school uniform out in the morning...bliss!
