Anyone ever used kitchen direct?

We had a salesman out and was quite impressed but have just read appalling reviews (mind you, didn't find any good reviews about any kitchen fitters).

Has anyone ever used Kitchen Direct? We are also looking at Magnet and a local supplier.

No. No idea about them apart from the fact I was cold called on my mobile while supermarket shopping. Would never buy from a company that does that.

hi,im not sure if its the same company,my sister bought a kithen from'kitchens' who then went bust but now have a new name im sure it was kitchens direct, look into how long they have been in buisiness for,
my sis had MAJOR problems with 'kitchens'

Yes - about 14 years ago. It was a very expensive option and we weren't 'allowed' to have some very simple things that we wanted, e.g. only under cabinet lighting on 2 cabinets!

When the fitters arrived it became apparent that the plans had been drawn wrongly and that my half depth cabinets had in fact been made to be quarter depth - which wouldn't even let me store side plates, never mind dinner plates! (They did change cabinets free of charge.

After about 8 years, one of the drawers collapsed and one of the cabinet doors needed to be replaced (veneer/laminate was peeling off). It took months and lots of calls/letters before they finally replaced them - even though we were paying. And then they delivered the wrong sizes twice.

If I was doing the kitchen again I would avoid them, although it was a long time ago and they may have changed.

I had them out to quote for new kitchen and felt very pressured... saleswoman was here for 4 hours! We put down £100 deposit and then realised saleswoman had measured incorrectly (I actually told her when she was writing it down but she disagreed with me). I double checked after she was gone and realised I was right. Got deposit back by writing a letter. Got kitchen from wickes fitted by local builder for about half the price quoted by KD. I have only just stopped getting calls from them every month offering to quote for a new kirchen!

OMG - don't touch with a bargepole! We had one of their salesmen round a few years ago, he didn't want to talk to dh, obv because the little woman is easier to sell to. Dh had to get really annoyed and quite forceful to get the little shite back out the door. And the samples he showed me were pretty naff as well.
Go to a proper kitchen showroom, they do a much better job - or better still, find a builders merchant (like Haydens for ex) and get a fitter/carpenter to fit it.
BTW Kitchens direct are part of Moben, and Dolphin BAthrooms etc. Try Dooyoo.com for comments.

We've had the Kithens Direct experience and would agree with the others - steer well clear!

Salesman was there all afternoon and wouldn't leave without a signed order. (We should have cancelled straight away, but didn't)

Similar to BecauseImWorthIt, when cabinets arrived some of them were wrong. The doors under the sink were so small, you wouldn't have got anything in them. The plan clearly showed full width doors, but they wouldn't have it and it took days of arguing and months of waiting to get them replaced.

I can't comment on durability as we sold up shortly afterwards.
