Buying a goat for Christmas

Hi, recently heard of a scheme where you can purchase a goat for a family in the third world and give this as a 'present' to a loved one. Does anyone know of the website/organisation that runs this, or any similar scheme?

Thanks in advance,

Helen

This is a great thread. I was speaking to ds and dd yesterday about an item on This Morning concerning African children and so this is really well-timed for me. Ds and dd have so much and the African children have so little, I think I'll ask them to choose a gift to go to the African children and them have one less gift instead. I've taken a quick look at the website you listed, JanH, and there's plenty of choice there. I'll take a look at them all, draw up a shortlist and they can choose. Thanks everyone!
