AAAaargh, that's the THIRD time i've been to ikea for one of those long-leggedy toddlers' chairs for sitting at the dinner table and they STILL don't have it in stock. does anyone know of another place to buy them?

i just want something semi-decent looking and not expensive that dd can sit on. apparently they're not expecting them to be in stock for months and months...

can anyone help? i don't even know what they're called. long-leggedy chairs isn't coming up with anything on google.

but Aitch .. why don't you stock check online before you go?

kindersurprise · 30/01/2008 18:23

Do you mean this kind of chair?

Twiglett · 30/01/2008 18:23

clips to table

MarsLady · 30/01/2008 18:24

Honey why don't you look up the Ikea website then link the long leggedy chairs so that we have some small clue as to your meaning

Do you mean the high chair but without the tray? If so I have a navy blue one I'd love to get rid of. (Once I've wrestled DT1 or 2 out of it. They found it!)

Twiglett · 30/01/2008 18:24

Svan highchair

ComeOVeneer · 30/01/2008 18:25

This any good?

Twiglett · 30/01/2008 18:28

this kind of thing slips over a normal chair

AitchTwoOh · 30/01/2008 18:46

oh, thanks. yes, kinder, that's exactly the one. and i should of course have stock-checked it but it's something i never think to do, oddly anough.

okay, so our dining area is open plan and i have rather lovely Marimekko fabric-covered chairs. so i can't use anything that uses the chairs, basically, because dd would eventually pour something disastrous over them and that would make me resent her until she left home. that bloody black chair would have been perfect.

i really don't want to spend much money on it either... gggggr and gggggr. those sodding seats have been in stock for years, NOW that i want one there's a national drought.

AitchTwoOh · 30/01/2008 18:47

so yes, it's a long-leggedy one that i'm after basically. a cheap long-leggedy one. [mean]

How about posting an Ebay 'Want it Now' message (assuming you have an Ebay account). I have got quite a few random things that way...you never know....

AitchTwoOh · 30/01/2008 19:09

good idea, zak, will do.

Agen in beech or birch or whatever it is has 'quality control issues' so no one has any idea when it's going to back in. Should have it in black though (was in stock in ours - Croydon- last week, looked all this up for an equally frustrated friend ) If you tell me what branch is your local one I'll look it up when I'm in work tonight - I leave at 8 though so let me know.

AitchTwoOh · 30/01/2008 19:17

would you? it's glasgow... and the one i want is in black.

OP posts:
serenity · 30/01/2008 19:34

I'll have a look when I get in and post when I get home (so about 1am ) I'm pretty sure there weren't any problems with the black one, but tbh I saw it was in stock and didn't really look at the other info. Friend of mine works in Childrens so I'll see if she knows more than what's on the PC too.

serenity · 31/01/2008 01:09

OK...well this is a bit weird. According to the internal system the reason why Glasgow haven't got any black ones is because they don't sell the black ones You'd think someone in the store would have noticed that when they were checking things for you! I looked at Edinburgh as well, and they are in the same situation I'm afraid.

We had two in stock this evening - I'm quite happy to get one for you and send it, but it's quite heavy (3.9kg) so postage might be extortionate (£8 something for standard RM parcel)

AitchTwoOh · 31/01/2008 10:49

oh gosh, would you? that would be great. email me at aitch at babyledweaning dot com and i will personally thank you to the high heavens.

OP posts:
serenity · 31/01/2008 13:19

Emailed you - you might get it twice as I accidently left a gap in the address the first time, and wasn't sure if it would still get to you

AitchTwoOh · 31/01/2008 16:14

got it, and fyi

serenity · 01/02/2008 14:03

I've emailed you with all the details.

AitchTwoOh · 01/02/2008 15:59

You're welcome

I should probably print that off and take it with me for comfort tonight - Friday night = seventh circle of hell

Ubergeekian · 01/02/2008 22:36

Glad it's sorted. In the meantime, here's one going for four quid, no bids.

We got a lovely new central european made wooden high from eBay for about 25 quid brand new. After a bit we took of the tray and bingo! a nice higher chair to use at a normal table. Something like this.

AitchTwoOh · 01/02/2008 23:14

gosh that is a bargain, uber, but funnily enough i specifically don't want that one as when you take the bar out there's a hole in the seat that i know would fill up with crud. bugger, dd is crying, must fly.

OP posts:
Ubergeekian · 02/02/2008 00:11

No holes in ours. Or maybe they filled up with crud so fast we just can't see them...

serenity · 04/02/2008 16:38

aitch- just letting you that i'm offline for a bit, computer has died [doing this on the wii which is such a pita] if you need to email me about the parcel just be aware that it might be a while before i see it. It's only been a day and I'm suffering already!
