He has a wooden train, farm, castle, jigsaws etc and some duplo and someone is getting him some lego as he loves building things ... does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone used the Knex stuff for smaller kids? He is at nursery full time so its largely for evenings and weekend use. Definitely going to get him some more play doh as he loves it. Just looking for inspiration!

jigsaws

bodiddly · 30/01/2008 13:46

he has quite a few jigsaws and he does love them .. I buy them second hand from our local parents/kids sale ... but he always needs loads of help with them. Was hoping there was something out there he could play with a little on his own .. or am I just looking for something that doesn't exist at his age?

Aquadraw?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 30/01/2008 13:47

Mine is 3 soon and I have bought him a combine harvester to go with his farm. He loves all vehicles so it serves two purposes.

nailpolish · 30/01/2008 13:47

leave him with the jigsaws and he will do themn alone

what about colouring in?

Pickie · 30/01/2008 13:49

Duplo is very popular here, both DS and DD love it. Been popular for 18 months now

A scooter might also be a nice one?

Aquadraw aslo very nice!

v smile?

fruitful · 30/01/2008 13:51

Dressing-up / roleplay stuff? Ds1 loves his fireman's outfit and torch/fire extinguisher/phone kit. I've got him a builder's toolkit and hardhat for his 3rd birthday. And a balance bike.

bodiddly · 30/01/2008 15:32

I can't seem to get him interested in dressing up .. his aunts gave him a knight's outfit and a pirate outfit for christmas and he hasn't touched them! Shame as they are really cute. Is the vsmile suitable for them at this age then?

my dd2 (3) plays with her big sis' vsmile

they dont have to do it properly, it so easy they can play about with it for ages

bodiddly · 30/01/2008 15:39

thanks for the ideas .. will def look into that nailpolish ... anyone else's little ones have a favourite toy?

play kitchen - unless you are in the 'oh thats a girls toy' camp

clayre · 30/01/2008 15:44

i'm getting my ds soon to be a bike, he can ride dd's

kinki · 30/01/2008 15:45

I've just bought ds2's 3rd birthday present today. For some inexplicable reason we've got him an electonic drum kit. Goodness knows what I was thinking. I know he'll love it. I probably won't.

bodiddly · 30/01/2008 15:46

i thought about a play kitchen but dont think I have got anywhere to put it .. they are sooooo huge. I liked the look of the one on the mumsnet reviews page which is table top but think it was elc last year and don't think they do it any more. I am a bit tight on space as I am a mean mum that doesnt keep toys in the living room and that is the only place left big enough!

a pop-up tent?

DS's favourite 3rd birthday present was a playmobil aeroplane.

bodiddly · 30/01/2008 15:47

that is cool kinki - I would willingly inflict that upon a friend's child but def not on myself! In fact I bought my mate's ds a normal mini drum kit for christmas ... she is still cursing me! Good luck!

pop up tent might be cool .... but I can see it sitting in my living room for ages though. Might look into that one. Playmobil sounds good - I think his grandmother is getting him a playmobil pirate ship but we could get something to go with it I suppose.
