Cheap Ugg boots - from China, am i mad?

i have bought some Ugg boots, from a website based in China. I haven't paid yet though, i have been sent the details to do a western union transfer.

Now i am thinking i must be crazy. How do i know if this is legit? Will i ever see these Ugg boots?

If i pay by paypal instead is that safer? Is there any claim if i never actually receive the boots?

This is the website joeaki

Would you risk it?

Probably in no way connected to them, but my ebay account was recently hijacked by someone listing boots just like those ones, same descriptions etc. I'd be cautious.

Washersaurus · 30/01/2008 12:39

The site says they accept credit cards through paypal though

Piffle · 30/01/2008 12:40

they are fake I have heard

NomDePlume · 30/01/2008 12:47

i'm always dubious of western union transfers.

NomDePlume · 30/01/2008 12:47

I'd either a) buy fakes or b) save up for the real deal

Kewcumber · 30/01/2008 12:58

I am also dubious of western union transfers - once the money has gone you can;t get it back. Not sure what protection paypal gives oputside of Ebay.

amidaiwish · 30/01/2008 13:03

ok will give it a miss!
thought it was a bit too good to be true...

if anyone knows where i can get UGGS in the UK do let me know! everywhere has been out of stock in size 5 for ages.

Thanks

I've got mine from here. Still waiting for delivery though - bought last week - so can't comment on how they are.

cluelessnchaos · 30/01/2008 22:30

I work for a shop where we sell the genuine article, we are inundated with calls from people who have been sold fakes, over the internet, especially ebay, and the onus has been on the buyer to prove they are fakes, rather than the seller to prove they are genuine.

fairyfly · 30/01/2008 22:31

I think China makes the majority of shoes, don't they? They certainly make a lot of our brands.

amidaiwish · 31/01/2008 15:06

thanks Pennies, i have just bought some too.

OK mine arrived yesterday - I had to ay £12 duty (but I had also bought some Snowjoggers.

I think that the Uggs aren't the real deal though BUT they are excellent and I'm really happy with them. I did notice after we'd been posting about this last week that the site does say that they're not the Ugg boots made by Decker which I should have spotted because the disclaimer was at the bottom of the page.

The Snowjoggers are def the genuine article so the site isn't a total scam.

I hope you like yours or if you decide to cancel the order I hope that's OK too.

i bought a item in december of 2007 and never received the item or my money back and when i had paypal get involved and they decided i was in the right and tried to refund my money from the paypal acount i paid to they found that the company acount had no money to repay me. I just do not want anyone else to get ripped off from this "so called company"
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY!!!

amidaiwish · 15/02/2008 08:56

Bbsprite, what company was this?

Pennies, i just received mine today, after having to pay £12.42 excess charge too.

oh sh!t they are a bit too small!!!! AHHHHH

i thought UGGS came up big?

doh.

SueW -i would have bought those if i had known about them first! Why aren't they getting the message out there? Esp because UGG boots have been like gold dust in this country since November, hence why i ended up buying from Australia.
