I'm trying to find some newborn and 0-3 month sleepsuits and vests for a boy but I would like something other than pale blue or beige.

Can anyone direct me to a website where I can find some sensibly priced, relatively funky outfits???

I saw some fab stripey ones the other day. bright stripes or something? will have a nose!

Daisymoo · 27/01/2008 21:19

Debenhams have some really lovely stuff IME. But don't go mad - you'll probably get given loads of stuff in those sizes.

boabsmum · 27/01/2008 21:20

very bright!!

bestignored · 27/01/2008 21:31

Boabsmum stripey ones??????? tell me more (will check out link now)! I have been looking for a thick red and white striped one for ages - no luck!! .

Daisymoo -Not much chance of getting given much - it's our third DC and everyone seems to have about him. We didn't get given anything for DD2 (one congrats card, that was it)

Everything else is likely to be second hand, (freecycle ) just fancied treating him to some new sleepsuits since thats probably all he'll wear for the first 6 weeks.

sorry, should have said everyone seems to have forgotten about him (already)

You can't get out to H&M I suppose BI as they have some lovely bright stuff in there? And I was cooing over leopard print booties...
Otherwise, Next do some lovely bright ones usually (stripey and polka dot) and M&S have some too here Mothercare and boots have both been known to do bright sleepsuits. Do you mean red&white striped sleepsuit or vest?

TheMadHouse · 27/01/2008 21:47

GAP in the sale

accessorizemybaublessanta · 27/01/2008 21:48

Oh, lookie here at next!

bestignored · 27/01/2008 22:01

accessorize - I would like a red / white stripe sleepsuit (with feet pref) and no collar like the ralph lauren ones have ..fussy I know but there is a reason (which I won;t bore you with). Nearest H&M is 40 miles away so not easy.

Pretty impressed with Next...thought they would be all blue, beige and 'mini accountant' stuff IYSWIM. I have found some of the Next ones ebay BNIP which I'm going to watch.

Heading off to GAP site now (I'm in a shopping mood, doesn't happen often so making the most of it!)

Thanks for all the suggesstions so far...keep em coming

btw - impressed with response so far considering my MN name!

BI, hope you find what you want - did you see the Next red & white one (with bib)? No collar either! I was really pleased with the next stuff I bought, he looked so cute in his multi-striped one and it was lovely and thick. People love shopping for babies
Also, Jako? They do bright colours.
When are you due?

accessorizemybaublessanta · 27/01/2008 22:14

Should have added, Next sleepsuits are HUGE and ds2 was a chunky baby...

bestignored · 27/01/2008 22:40

accessorize - I'm not due for a few months yet, but I could do with getting a few bits and pieces now (as a means of cheering myself up ).

Thanks for the info about Next sizes. All the other sleepsuits I have had before have been pretty well used and I think they had shrunk a lot from being washed so much so I'd better watch out with new things I guess. DDs weren't huge (under 7lbs) so this one might not be big either. Need something to fit over a cloth bottom though..

Newlook have really fab babyboy sleepsuits, and really reasonably priced, but only the bigger shops have a baby section and I love verbaudet.com

Was in Next yesterday and they do have some suprisingly good stuff that isn't too beige or blue. And their newborn sleepsuits have little cuffs that fold over to cover their hands - genius. I'm on the hunt for bright unisex stuff myself.

Could try Nordic Kids - expensive for a newborn maybe, but I bought a couple things in their sale. Lovely quality and soooo cute.

accessorizemybaublessanta · 28/01/2008 10:34

BI, it's lovely to buy a few new things, doesn't matter if it's no.1 or no.3! I have two boys born same time of year so I have little excuse really. I found only sleepsuits which didn't fit cloth bot were Sainsbury's which were dreadful. More poppers the better, so the cheapo ones didn't fit so well iyswim? Vests I just had to use the next size up (M&S were great as they still weren't enormous elsewhere).
I thought the fold over mitts on Next were great too, don't find them v.often.

HolidaysQueen · 28/01/2008 10:37

I'm having the same problem as you - expecting a little boy in March and depressed by blue and beige... I second Nordic Kids - expensive but lovely. I've bought a couple of the brands sold on there from eBay instead and because they are great quality they're actually really good secondhand.

JFly · 28/01/2008 11:32

Hey HQ - good idea about ebay. Good old ebay!

accessorizemybaublessanta · 28/01/2008 22:24

HQ & BI, I have perfect site for you Not just pink and blue

BigBadMouse · 29/01/2008 11:59

Oohhh thanks. I notice they have low stock too...do I spot a gap in the market which could do with filling????

I went out to local (35 miles away) shoppping centre on Monday and found very little other than blue, beige and white with bit of red and blue in the sleepsuits sections. I tried Next, Adams, Mothercare, Woolies, M&S and Debenhams. Will try the other 'local' centre (45 miles in other direction) later on - they have an H&M there!

'tis me BI btw, namechanged a bit recently (undergoing crisis of confidence and trying to pretend I don't exist as much as possible )

accessorizemybaublessanta · 29/01/2008 13:08

I think it's just the end of the season BBM/BI! Next always have beige/blue/pink in the shops I've noticed, nothing colourful except in the catalogue. Same with M&S and mothercare is always rubbish really for beige/white boring. I hope you don't go all the way to H&M and find nothing! Because they're often rubbish with their sizing stock.
Will buying red & white babygro help with crisis of confidence? Makes me feel better sometimes double

BigBadMouse · 29/01/2008 16:23

Hmmmm...methinks that could be very good therapy . The 'local' shops are really rubbish for stocking anything around here - online and catalogues seem to be the best bet. I thought it was just because we were out in the sticks but I think you may well have a point with it being end of season too. The Next in the other location is usually very well stocked apparently - I can feel myself planning a day trip and putting it down as therapy
