Not sure, have not seen that type before.

We have just puchased a Bobike Mini which fits on my bike OK but not on DH's Mountain bike even with the special mountain bike clamp (something to do with the arrangement of brake cables on his frame) so he has bought a second bike to fit the seat to . A typical male solution to the problem.

DS absolutely loves it!

Sorry, this does not answer your question. You really need to see a picture of it attached to the seller's bike to give you an idea of how it sits. V difficult to tell how it works on that pic.

does the bobike mini fit on suspension bikes?

What is a suspension bike?

I have the seat in the picture - it sits on a metal bar that has to be fitted to the bike.

QuintessentialShadow · 28/01/2008 08:42

We have that seat, it is attached to the front bar of my dh;s bike. It has to be "male" bike where the cross bar is horizontal and not at an angle. Does that make sense?

If you dont get this one, we are selling ours shortly (local pick up in London) because we are moving. Our 2 1/2 year old is nearly grown out of it.

a suspension bike is something like this

Oh, I don't know, re: suspension bike. I don't see why not, I guess?

I think it's fine on a women's bike, though.

QuintessentialShadow · 28/01/2008 10:33

I have a full suspension bike. It doesnt fit on mine. We have it on my dhs bike.

nappyaddict · 28/01/2008 12:41

quint which one do you have - the bobike one or the one i linked to?

OP posts:

I have the seat you linked to. It is on my dhs bike.

It changes the way you step on and off the bike. If you normall step on the bike by swinging your leg over and above the seat from behind the seat, I am sure you will be fine, if you can fit it on your bike.

I step onto the bike by raising my knee and putting my foot over the cross bar, but you cant do this with this child seat on, as the seat will be in the way. Also, bear in mind if you have to break abruptly (younger child on bike swerving into your path for example) and come off, you cant jump down and stand with your bike between your legs, as the child seat is there. You have to stand, swing your leg over seat and then make a very controlled stop and get off.

I have a full suspension and I can fit on my bike. Other issue, I could not personally have that childseat with any bike, due to hip issues (spd).

My husband has the seat on his bike, as he is very fit, a skilled mountain biker, and for him it is not a problem at all, as he would be more than happy to try some acrobatics on his bike!

Teaandcake · 28/01/2008 12:59

OK, the clamp for the Bobike goes around the upright part of the handlebars (the bit that is adjustable up and down). Dh's mountain bike is not adjustable so he ordered the clamp for all terrain bikes (this fits on to the frame at the front) but it still did not fit.

If your bike is like the one on your link then the standard clamp should fit IYSWIM.

nappyaddict · 28/01/2008 13:18

teaandcake do you know if the bobike maxi would fit aswell??

quint - sorry i got very confused there cos further down you said it doesn't fit!! did you mean it doesn't fit cos of the acrobatics you have to do rather than it doesn't physically fit?

god who knew choosing a bike seat could be so difficult!

OP posts:
QuintessentialShadow · 28/01/2008 13:22

sorry for being confusing. It does not fit because of the bike, and even if I had a different bike, (like my husbands) I would not personally be able to use it due to the acrobatix involved.

Pickie · 28/01/2008 13:23

the mounting kit of the Bobike mini goes round the stem on your bike and will on a suspension bike BUT your stem diameter cant be more then 2.9cm

see below
The Bobike Mini attaches to your bike's handlebars stem (suitable for stems with diameter of 2.0cm to 2.9cm)

Teaandcake · 28/01/2008 21:18

Sorry nappyadict, I'm afraid I don't know much about the maxi.

Bikes are a bit confusing. Prams are more my specialist area.

nappyaddict · 29/01/2008 11:55

same here
