Tummy Tub: How long did yours last for?

We've been using ours religiously since 4 days old! DS is now 4 1/2 months old and bathtime has turned into a comedy routine!
First I have him standing up whilst I wash his bits, then (when he's finished standing up like a big boy) he sits down and attempts to lick the water!
No matter how shallow I fill the tub, he manages to slip down far to dip the bottom half of his face in the water, even if his feet are way up above his head!!! Should I give it up? Or will it get easier when he gets a bit bigger and can't slip down so far?
All the photo's I've seen show these lovely babies happy splashing away in their tub, whereas I've constantly got my hands under his armpits to keep him upright!!!!

It will get easier when he's a bit bigger. I think we used our borrowed one until DS was about 6 months. But the time where he fitted perfectly was quite short and then we felt he was getting too big for it. And I think there was still always a tendency for him to slip if he moved the wrong way. I'm not sure I'd bother again tbh, although they do look really cute. Those pictures of one and two year olds are mad - my DS loves splashing in the bath and I'm sure he'd just knock a tummy tub right over if I tried it now.

I moved him into a bath seat at 5-6 months I think, had given up on the tummy tub well before that & just supported him or one of us got in the bath with him.

My lo loved standing up from 2 months old, and would not sit down at all in the tummy tub, (unless we were to manually bend his legs, and even then he'd spring back to standing as soon as we let go!!)

Now he's a massive 6 month old it's getting a bit silly. He tries to bounce and I just don't have enough hands to hold him under the arms and steady the tub in case he topples it AND wash him!

Plus no matter how stingy we are with the water he soaks the room, so now we give him a lovely deep soak in the big bath in a reclining bath upport seat so his legs are free to kick, and mummy can watch from the loo next to the bath without getting too soaked.

We'll keep the tub though for that magical time when he gets tired of standing up... it has to happen at some point!
