does anyone have the britax evolva 1-2-3 car seat (allegedly suitable for 9mo to 11yo)

like the idea of retaining the 5-point harness for longer -- ds1 (2.8yo) already tall enough to need next car seat up from group 1 but am not keen on the idea of switching to a regular seat belt yet

at what point do you have to switch from harness to belt? is it triggered by weight or height? if the latter, we may not get much use from it and therefore the evolva has no advantage over other seats in this group

anyone any experience of it?

I have this car seat and i think it's fantastic.
My ds is 31 mths and like your son a big lad but he fits so comfy in this seat he loves it.
In ref to the weight and height question for the 5 point pull harness i think the max weight is 15 kg(?)but i'm not sure about the height. My ds is just over 3 ft and still is below the max height guide (shoulders must be under the highest position of straps). We think he will get at least another 6 months in the 5 point before we change over.
They can also sleep really well in this seat as it has the head rests either side so when they drop off their head doesn't roll about.
Would recommend this car seat to anybody.
HTH.

Hi i faced the same problem with dd2(2yo and about 16kg)but also tall ,i got the Evolva last week and it is really sturdy and a good fit. Also the winged headrest parts make it comfortable for the little ones.

18kg is the maximum for the harness, 15kg the minimum to switch, just like most stage 1 seats. However it has the capacity to hold a larger child below that weight who might otherwise be too big for a stage 1 only by 15kg.

Hi, don't know if you have seen the recent thread this eve about this seat?
Love this car seat, DD1(2.5yo) was in this seat when our car was written off in a m/way crash 4 weeks ago. Straps held her very securely and she suffered no marks/injuries at all.
She is tall for her age and about 17kg. Headrests seem really good for when she sleeps in the car.
Had no hesitation in buying the same again as a replacement.
