Right antiquated dishwasher gives me a headache- can't hear anything whilst its on- twice as noisy as the washing machine- thats not normal right??

So i've been looking at dishwashers- main priority is that its going to be quieter- took a trip with the twins down to curry's this morning and really liked a kenwood stainless steel one- online reviews are mixed- some say noisy some say quiet- what i want to know really is how noisy will it be- same as washing machine, less????

I know you all swear by bosch, meile, aeg etc but they were so ugly! and unfortunatly the way our kitchen is laid out the dishwasher is smack bang in front of you when you open the kitchen door- its the first thing you see!

Ours is a Hotpoint, about 18months old and is much quieter than our washing machine.

i am struggling with the idea of one dishwasher being more ugly than another.

there was a hotpoint on special in john lewis and i asked the sales guy why it was better than the bosch one (less money) and he said it wasn't and bosch really are the bees knees.

our very old Bosch is much louder than the washing machine.

You'd be mad to choose a dishwasher on it's looks though! There are plenty of manufacturers who make stainless steel models, and also have good reviews!

I've got a 7yo whirlpool (Ikea's own range, very cheap) and it's super-quiet. Much quieter than w/m.

here, for example

no dishwasher is pretty i grant you but i did really like the kenwood and it has all the features i want and need- all the reviews say it performs well with washing so that's the most important thing! i thought it was really good value from dixons at 239 inc delivery- we're having an extension built at some poinbt in the near future so it will only be a short-term fix!

The only thing i am really worried with is the headache inducing noise that the current one makes- have often thought of kicking it VERY hard!!!

We have this Bosch dishwasher in silver, and it is so quiet you can't often tell if it's on or not.

Also AAA rated for energy, uses 12ltrs water per eco cycle (great if you're on a water meter) and looks great

I'm going to get Fisher and Paykel Dishdrawers when I replace my dishwasher....look good, work well AFAIK, bit expensive but worth it apparently.

preggersagain · 23/01/2008 13:37

they're nice- but at that price i'd expect it to load and empty itself

Right mind made up- kenwood cheapo it is!! its got lots of nice bits and bobs and presumably will wash the plates- and hopefully will NOT give me a headache at the same time!
