I want a table a bit like this - but smaller

table

to go in our kitchen - needs to be oval or rectangular, but no longer than about 170-180 cm or the chairs won't fit. any idea where I could look? needs to be a sort of beech colour, or white, or distressed white, or something like that, and have "sensible" chairs that a three year old won't constantly slide off.... have looked at all the usual suspect sites but can't find anything I like.

hmm, most of the Ikea ones looking a bit modern for me.

Considering schlepping out to Sunbury (at least I think it's near Sunbury) to go here

www.goodtable.co.uk/ - apart from anything else, I loved this excerpt from their website:

"Some repro furniture places offer to distress pieces but we prefer to avoid this - distressing can be too subjective. Either an object has been whipped too often or too little with an old bike chain, dragged across a gravel car park the wrong way or just simply not what the customer expects. If you really want that shabby chic/lived in look, then have children and let them spill things.

Likewise with paint finishes, all we offer is WHITE. White legs and rails, or white all over. Even this is a bit risky as our 'white' might not be the same as the faded bone colour from Tuscany you were hoping for. You'll have to trust us here or buy the table without any finish (cheaper) and paint it yourself (probably cheaper)."
