I posted about my smoking old panasonic. Well we went out yesterday after having done some research to go and get a vax (in our budget, hopefully will do what we ask it). Unfortunately we got seduced by a hoover (dust manager pet thingy) - similar price, said it would do similar things (pick up pet hair) and with more suction.
Got home and realised it was one that had come up poorly in reviews. But I thought, well maybe they were unlucky or a bit fussy or something.
So. I'm merrily hoovering this morning. Checked the dust container (hard to see so you have to take it apart to look) and noticed that the dust was just gathering around the filter rather than falling in container. So I cleared it all out and started again. Half way through the dining room it cut out - the thermal cut off had kicked in. The reason - the filter had clogged again!
So I phoned hoover in a fury as its the same problem as in the reviews I'd read. Took ages to speak to someone but when I did she was ever so soothing and has given me an exchange number to take to shop so we can get our money back.
Wish dh would accept that we really ought to spend a little (rather a lot) more and get something decent - he wouldnt buy a rubbish drill or whatever.
So am off in a bit to take it back.
