Slow cooker: which one? Anyone using Morphy Richards 6.5 litres?

Hi

I finally decided to buy a slow cooker, but have no idea which one to get, as I havbe not used one before and don't know which features are most important. Leaning towards the Morphy Richards 6.5 litres due to its size (allowing me to cook enough for at least two meals I think), but the feedback on Amazon is not great. Anyone out there using it, can I have your opinions please. If not which one to buy? We are a family of four, we like our food, and I am paranoid about safety regarding the risk of fire (having been in a fire situation before) and hot surfaces.
Any feedback would be welcomed. Thank you

Hello. We have the Anthony Worral Thompson (yuk) one and it is very good for us. It is 4.5 litres and that is enough for 8 portions I would say. If I were to get another one though I would want [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rival-4-7ltr-Brushed-Chrome-Versaware/dp/B000GFGD1O/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=k itchen&qid=1200843472&sr=1-11 this one] as I think you can put it on the hob and in the dishwasher, oven and microwave.

Oh ffs here

purplemonkeydishwasher · 20/01/2008 15:46

we have the 6.5 litre morphy richards.
TBH i find it just too big. even if i make a HUGE thing it's still only half full maybe.
and because it's so big it takes up too much room on the countertop. and awkward to clean because of it's size.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 20/01/2008 15:47

(saying that though, you can fit a whole chicken in it. easily)

VanillaPumpkin · 20/01/2008 15:51

I can fit a whole chicken in Anthonys one too . I really think 4.5 litres is plenty....

Agree the 6.5litre one is too big. We have this but also have 2 smaller ones which get used regularly as much more useful. Today we used both; one to cook lamb and rice pud in the other.

And can I recommend 'Slowcooker Easy' and 'Slowcooker' by Sara Lewis. Fab recipes!

I have this one and it is fine Argos

Thank you for all your replies. In the end I bought a 4.5 litres one from Breville (the Anthony Worrall one), the 6.5 litres really looked huge, and my kitchen is tiny.
All need now is some delicious recipes. Any ideas? I need to convice DH that it was a worthwhile investment, as he thinks I have just wasted my money!
