Play doh tools - the thing that makes wriggly worms etc - where from?

Don't quite know what they're called. Consists of a tube with a hole at the end (in a variety of shapes - circle, star, triangle etc). You plonk a sausage shape of play do inside, and push it through the hole with another plastic bit that fits inside the outer tube.

Ds loves them (used at toddler group) but I can't find them anywhere. Have tried ELC, Woolies, Smiths, Toysrus. People at toddler group can't remember where they came from.

Need to buy online.

ELC did used to do them - but as part of a set. I'll check online

FrannyandZooey · 20/01/2008 10:15

here's a set with some in

MuffinMclay · 20/01/2008 10:21

Why didn't I spot those. Not quite the same thing, but they might be a good alternative.

ds loves those wormy things the best too

I think those ELC ones look like a good substitute

MrsBadger · 20/01/2008 10:23

meanwhile, would a garlic press do as a cheaper alternative?

Great idea - will try the garlic press later.

My 3 seem to have every set going.-just had 3 birthdays and Xmas which is fine by me as I love play dough .The thing you're talking about is it like a toy syringe?? If it is the only ELC set I've seen that in is the space rocket one. Have to say the syringe thing is the best bit of that set the rest is OK but not that thrilling.

The hair set is OK but I found the Toys R Us one easier to manage, ELC one quite fiddly. The Toys R Us ice cream set is quite popular in my house but you could create a lot of it with toy plates etc, the ice cream machine is good but they do need a bit of help with it. I love the fairy ELC set.

I find they like the homemade playdough the best(softer)and they love using my tins with it. Crappy plastic scizzors that aren't good for cutting paper(free in comics) are good too and they like pushing Tesco coloured matchsticks into playdough to make hedgehogs.

Wilkinsons do a big bucket of ersatz play dough (called 'Happy Dough' I think) that has loads of those syringe thingies in.

MuffinMclay · 20/01/2008 20:18

Yes, it is the syringe thing.

The garlic press did provide half an hour of entertainment, although ds isn't strong enough to squeeze it on his own.

Will try to persuade dh to check out Wilkinsons in town at the weekend (I'm not allowed to walk at the moment).
