Help I need to find a 'end of line' mothercare blankie for my sad daughter!

Hi, My daughter has lost her blankie and I went back to mothercare to get another one and they've recently discontinued them. I was wondering if anyone out there had one that their child was not really interested in. I'm happy to pay for costs etc. of course. The blankie is a pink/cream one with a little bear at one end and a teether at the other, either a round disc or triangle in rubber. It also has in pink writing 'my first'. If anyone can help or advise how I could get hold of discontinued mothercare stuff that would really help.

Many thanks. Henri (ms)

have you emailed their head office, or called them - they are in watford?

Harry65 · 17/01/2008 13:45

Hi popmum. I have sent them a message - automessage said they will try to respond within 5 days. I did try to call but found it was getting rather complicated (not sure why) but after being pushed from pillar to post I gave up. Thanks for the thought though. Henri

I have one. Its cream with the bear on and the triangle rubber teether. Its from Mothercare so I think it must be the same one that you are talking about.

Hi Karen,

Wow, I've just joined mums net and I'm really impressed so far. It does sound like the same one - the bear is at one corner cuddling the blankie and the rubber triangle is at the other end. Would you be happy to sell it to me? I have spoken to Mothercare and they might be able to source it if I had the code, which is one letter followed by four digits. Regards, Henri

Hi

It has been lying at the bottom of my dd's toy basket so will give it a wash (have checked the label and it is ok to do this)!!

She has never really used it tbh so will send it to you. My e-mail address is karenmacivor at btinternet dot com.

If you send me an e-mail with your address then I will send it to you.

ooh I know a Henri! I hope it's you! Welcome to Mumsnet whether you are my Henri or not!

Ah, since you're all obviously v helpful people, does anyone know where I can get a blankie that is all satin? Without those hideous frills round the outside. I have looked and looked but can't find one anywhere. By this stage, I don't care what it costs, I just have to find one.

FlllightAttendant · 17/01/2008 17:41

Bessie have you thought about making one? Might be fun!

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 17:42

Fllight Attendant - I would, but I will only mess it up; I'm terrible at sewing, unfortunately.

Karen999 · 17/01/2008 17:44

Don't have a silk one. Have you tried the following website?

www.babyblankie.com/cuscom.html

psychomum5 · 17/01/2008 17:46

bessie....go to a fabric shop and buy some satin by the metre. if you are any good at hemming then do that, or smile sweetly at someone who can sew and maybe they would

mine like the satin edges on blankets so ribbon was enough for them, but if you need a bigger peice, this is just a thought!

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 17:48

Karen999 - yes, I have seen that site, but didn't really like the look of the blankets.

Psychomum - I know exactly what I have to get, so perhaps if I could trick convince someone into making one for me, that would be the best option.

Lomond · 17/01/2008 17:57

Bessie I buy my dd's blankys from www.comfortblankets.co.uk/show_cat.php?catid=7 The original blanky with wide trim is good though it has fleece on one side.

Bessie123 · 17/01/2008 18:06

It looks nice, Lomond, but I do need one that is satin all over

Harry65 · 18/01/2008 11:10

OMG I'm amazed at how my mail has expanded. Hi flightattendant - not sure if I'm the same Henri, lived in London, Surrey and now Devon? Thanks for the welcome and also to Karen999 who has gone out in the cold and wet to send a replacement blankie for my dd. She will be so happy as I've told her he's been on holiday - which he has - in Scotland!
