Does anyone remember Clarks magic steps from the 80's.? I've just found the old advert on the net and would love to see a picture of them, or even better buy a pair for my dd. I would have loved a pair myself but unfortunatly my feet were too big.
I was gutted, especially because I'd already told my school mates that I was going to get them. I had to pretend that I chose a different style, as I was far too embaraced to embaraced to tell the truth.

I bet if you'd kept them they would be worth loads now, I know I'd buy them. Did you have a little gold key attached to you'r duffle coat too? If so I'd be sooo .

i think after wearing them for a whole school year they were compleetly worn out

I think that advert must have been one of the most effective ever! I don't remember any of the girls in my class not having them (appart from me of corse.)

I was the same as you, my feet were very long and skinny and always had ugly brown lace-ups. arn't kids lucky these days that there is so much choice of funky foot ware.

I loved that ad and really wanted the shoes but thinking back I cant remember whether I actually had them. But I know that I wanted a pair of patent leather shoes with the sling back strap but I wasn't allowed .

mummyvontummy · 16/01/2008 21:07

I had black patent ones and they had roses inside I think! I loved them so so much, I think I had three pairs in the end! And the cica trainers with a satin bit at the top of the tongue-went beautifully with my shellsuit!!?!!

Lmccrean · 16/01/2008 21:09

are they the ones with the wee key and when you turn it you see a jewel or princess or something?? (Vague recollection of comparing mine with other girls on the reading mat in school - would have been 1989/early 90s)

mummyloveslucy · 16/01/2008 22:13

Yes that's right and they used to ware the key on their duffle coats.

I have e-mailed clarks to ask if they'd ever bring them back. I think if they did the'd be sold out within a month. Most of the little girls that wore them in the 80's have little girls of their own now and would love them to have a pair. From the advert and what I can remember, they are very classic and wouldn't date.
