sorry - can anyone tell me what wipes for kids (wet bog roll stuff) are flushable please?

not that we'll flush them as we have a septic tank but if they are nominally 'flushable' it wont matter so much if the odd one goes down, right?

cheers!

Kandoo wipes are flushable, but i buy Asda's equivalent as they are just as good but cheaper

nutcracker · 15/01/2008 22:08

Yep Kandoo, but they are not as flushable as they claim to be. I k now 2 people who have had to have their loos unblocked and those were the cause of the blockage.

NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:11

righto. thanks

Nappies - we have a septic tank and have had no problem with the Asda/Kandoo equivalent.

Also have a couple of packets of some kind of organic wipe from Beaming Baby, which claim to be flushable, but seem very big!

NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:12

yeah, they dont blinkin feel flushable to me!

was thinking that more 'eco' brands may be more dgradable...

OP posts:
policywonk · 15/01/2008 22:13

I find that 1 = flushable; 2 = non-flushable.

NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:14

ah bobsmum, so not neccesarily the case eh?

OP posts:
NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:16

thats v cryptic PW... whats 1 and 2?

OP posts:
bobsmum · 15/01/2008 22:16

Septic tank was emptied after it started backing up last week, but it's been over 2 years since it was done last and there are 7 houses using it, so I figured that ds' 'generous" use of flushable wipes had little to do with it He can flush 5 or 6 and we've been ok..so far....

NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:18

oh right! misread your last post bobsmum... so te asda ones get the thumbs up then?

OP posts:
bobsmum · 15/01/2008 22:20

Yes - and I think they're on offer atm too.

There are TEsco ones too, but they smell weird.

Asda have just brought out a fragrance free one, but thinking about it I think my dcs need all the extra fragrance they can get in the bathroom

TheOriginalXENA · 15/01/2008 22:20

policywonk is right, on the kandoo pack it says only to put one wipe in each flush iyswim

policywonk · 15/01/2008 22:21

Wot XENA said, nappies. 1 and 2 are, y'know, numbers.

NappiesGalore · 15/01/2008 22:25

oh i see .

like 1 wipe is ok, but 2 is not...

rather than 'mystery wipe 1' is ok, but mystery wipe 2 is not, but im not telling you which wipes im on about.

yes, hat makes MUCH more sens

bobsmum · 15/01/2008 22:28

The man who pumps our septic tank has told me before not to flush the kandoo ones as they block the infill pipes. Still with the amount of rain we're having we are having problems keeping anything in ours at all at the moment - maybe I should stick some kandoo down it.

Scramble · 15/01/2008 23:54

Lidls do a flushable bum wipe, very smaller than normal wipes.

MilaMae · 16/01/2008 17:10

I've got 3 of 4 and under so we get through a LOT of flushable wipes and have never had the loo blocked. The key thing is to only flush one at a time not a wodge. The kids have had it drilled into them by dp he's petrified of blocked loos, can't think why

I've used Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco, Kandoo, Beaming Baby all fine. Only prop I have is the heinous smell of them. As a result Beaming Baby are my fav but pricey and now they're all doing it themselves I need ones that fit in the pop up Kandoo box. Currently using Sainsbury's fragrance free, quite cheap too.
