Apologies folks, a bit of a ramble for context……
Help please, I would like to give a gift to my friends for their 70th Birthdays this year. They have invited friends & family to a celebration party in July which is half way between their respective birthdays.
I’ve known the couple for over 45 years, we used to regularly exchange birthday & Christmas gifts for many years, I would spend Christmas Day with them & many other celebration days with them & their extended family. I’m single & childless they have two now adult boys/men.
We mutually stopped exchanging yearly gifts about 15/20 years ago however we did continue gifting for the big special birthdays, the last being my 60th when I hosted a lunch party.
What do I get either individually or jointly for a couple who are fit & healthy & have everything they need & probably want, without spending too much, it would be embarrassing to spend a lot of money & they wouldn’t expect it anyway.
What with Covid getting in the way we haven’t been able to regularly socialise as usual for quite a while now, the last time was October 2021 at their 41 year old sons wedding & before that in March 2020 (2 weeks before the first lockdown) for the same son’s 40th birthday & prior that Christmas 2019. So I feel that I’m out of touch with what their likes & dislikes are now.
I just haven’t got a clue what to gift my friends, don’t want to just get “stuff” I want to get something thoughtful, but I can’t think of anything.🙄
