Calling all drivers of SCENICs and XSARAs - I know there must be hundreds of you!! What do you think of them?

I'm going for some test drives on Thursday, because I need a bigger car than a Yaris for when baby 3 arrives in July.

Which scenic / xsara do you have? Going to try manuals and automatics. Have you had any probs?

TIA x

I have and 05 plate Picasso desire 1.8(I think) disel.

It is great to drive, loads of space, very slightly bigger than the scenic.

The only thing I would say is that it appears a bit "cheap" inside, with wear and tear showing within 12m on things like teh "leather" thing that goes around the gear stick.

We have a Grand Scenic which was new in June 2005. The only problems we have had have been due to the service rather than the actual car. Ours is manual and diesel. It has had 2 recalls so far.

hazygirl · 14/01/2008 17:57

my dp work for big hire company and the scienic is great very reliable and parents are always very pleased when they come back ,dont get problems with them x

beautifuldays · 14/01/2008 17:58

i've got a 1.8 petrol picasso and it's ok. a bit big and cumbersome and bloody slow.
not that lovely to drive if i'm honest, but practical and it does the job. interior does get tatty but then when you've got 2 kids in the back it will get pretty mucky anyway whatever the car.

my biggest bug-bear is the fact that it is so slow and feels a bit wobbly at high speeds (on motorways etc), which is because it is so high up, but ignore me, i just wish i had an aston martin DB9!

Berrie · 14/01/2008 17:59

I really like the space in my Scenic but have found it unreliable and I wouldn't buy one again. Also the heating system is rubbish.

SaggyOldBagpuss · 14/01/2008 18:02

I've got an 04 plate scenic and I love it lotsly

It is a manual and 1.6 petrol, with all the fancy bits including clever locking (just push the button with your keys in you handbag or pocket) panoramic roof and 6 changer cd player.

We brought it as we camp, we can fit in it 2 kids, a lab, tent and equipment

isaidno · 14/01/2008 18:36

Thanks everyone - anyone else? Do you fit 3 ds and 2 adults comfortably?

dp says its great must admit have hired for day and it was good and fits them brill

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 14/01/2008 18:53

I have a scenic and I like it but it is not a good car for people who actually like driving it is good for putting the kids in and having lots of space though

isaidno · 15/01/2008 07:28

andie - I'm not bothered about driving really - just getting to school and the shops!

I have the xsara picasso desire, petrol, think it is 1.8..... it is great , am very pleased with it. just don;t get any work done at the citroen garage, it will cost twice as much as kwik fit !!

i used to take my friends twins to school and could easily get DDs baby seat and 2 boosters in the back.. lots of boot space, and good storage in the back, under the floor... easy to keep clean and tidy, and comfortable to drive.

LadyMuck · 15/01/2008 07:37

I hired a Xsara Picasso in the summer. Really wasn't impressed with its handling.

AnAngelWithin · 15/01/2008 08:01

my husband says do not buy a renault. and he works for renault!!

lots of picassos round here, with familys with 3 kids so they must be ok though not had experience myself but my friend has got one and she loves is.

bamamama · 15/01/2008 08:12

we have a Picasso. It has more storage space than our house.
Don't they just hand you the key to your compulsory-for-families-Picasso as you're leaving the maternity ward?

isaidno · 15/01/2008 08:15

lol bamamama!

have a grand scenic (7 seater) dymanique s, loads of extras on it for not much more price wise. It's great for three kids, one in rear facing, one in stage 1 seat and a very tall 12 year old (5'6"). I love it, no probs so far but only got it in Oct. Oh a bit heavy on petrol though (32mpg at the mo)

Polgara2 · 15/01/2008 15:45

Have a Scenic and absolutely love it - am getting another one when saved up!

Bubbaloo · 16/01/2008 02:10

We have a 2.0 Diesel Picasso and absolutely love it.
Very expensive to get serviced at Citroen every year but that is the only downside IMO.

isaidno · 17/01/2008 15:55

Thanks all - I bought a xsara today! Pick it up on Wednesday - woo hoo! I loved it on the test drive. It is a 2.0l automatic so i only have to worry about stop, go and steer!
