Our bed has a slated base. Only want to replace the mattress but overwhelmed by the choices and different makes.

Please enlighten me.

We bought a standard mattress then one of those 8 inch mattress toppers from John Lewis. Like a perfect giant marshmallow but makes it even harder to raise my old boy at 0600 when my youngest starts singing.

A good quality memory foam one We got one just before Xmas and it's fab. Feels soft & luxurious but is very supportive - my back pain is much better

Go into a bed shop and lie on some mattresses. We did, then bought the one we liked, new from ebay!
DH wanted a memory foam one but I didn't like it so we got a firm silentnight one with built in memory foam topper which is lovely.
It was 3 days old when DS threw up on it!
