No idea on budget as this is all very much a big maybe for the next few months but I'd guess anywhere between £15,000 and £30,000, I know thats a huge gap but it all depends on loads of stuff.

We have a Vectra at the moment, DH doesn't to lose any 'drivability'.

TIA.

we love our Touran, takes 2 stage 2 car seats and a booster plus has a third row of seats which pop up behind.

meep · 14/01/2008 12:04

my brother has a VW Galaxy - 3 children: 2.5, 4 and 7

maretta · 14/01/2008 12:06

We have toyota verso and that fits 4mo, 2yo and 4yo all in their seats.
The ford c-max just fitted but would be hardwork squeezing them all in.

Enid · 14/01/2008 12:07

multipla
three seats in back , three in front, all same size (ie adult)

fun to drive, looks weird

mishymoo · 14/01/2008 12:07

7 seater Renault Scenic?

Enid · 14/01/2008 12:08

dh has a bmw 5 series estate but we always use the multipla for holidays and trips as it is so easy for the kids to get in and out

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 12:10

Are there any 'normal' cars, i.e. saloon shaped rather than MPV/van shaped?

Thanks for suggestions so far though

Volvos have a built-in booster seat in the middle of the back seat. You can fit a proper car seat on either side.

Enid · 14/01/2008 12:13

god give up on the normal car idea

once your three are older you will be desperate for a minibus or van!

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 12:26

Oh god, I don't want a van shaped minibus thing.

Maybe we don't have to have another child afterall!

Spose I'd better go and start looking for the dreading MPV things I never thought I'd say this, but had a quick look at the Volvo site, I quite like some of them....

Buy a volvo. If you get one of the estate ones, you can have the option of two extra flip-up seats in the boot as well, so you can convert it into a 7-seater when you need to.

And people don't mess with Volvo drivers, I find.

katz · 14/01/2008 12:30

regular megane scenic will take to car seats and a booster, but doing the booster seat belt up can be a bit of a faff

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 12:32

DH isn't keen at all on the Scenic, he says the interior looks like a van

Think he might have to put up and shut up TBH.

Though I do like the Volvo's.... I know I've said that, but I surprised myself!

W have just bought a Peugeot 307 SW, which has 3 individual seats in the back, we can easily fit the 2 booster seats and a booster cushion in there and do them up easily too

geekgirl · 14/01/2008 12:37

the corolla verso copes fine. It's a lovely car. And you get two seats in the boot that fold away completely - great when the grandparents are visiting or you're ferrying the children's friends around.

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 12:38

Thanks Brat, we actually had a 307 about 5 years ago (the normal hatchback version though) I liked it a lot, DH preferes a saloon.

I think I might tell DH that he can search for a car, never known anyone so anal about a sodding car.

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 12:41

I said about the Verso, can't remember what excuse he had for not wanting one now.

Like I said put up or shut up I think from on my darling husband!

I know what it is, in his head he automatically thinks bunch of kids equals the 4x4 that he has been hankering after for as long as I can remember, but he isn't having it! It is one boys toy too far IMO.

OP posts:
bratnav · 14/01/2008 12:44

Me too, I loved my hatch, but 3 kids meant a change

Enid · 14/01/2008 12:54

bunch of small kids certainly doesnt == the flash 4 x 4

mate has a bmw x5 and you cant fit a stage 2 car set and two high backed boosters in the back

its shite really

geekgirl · 14/01/2008 12:56

we used to have a grand cherokee and the back row was much more of a squeeze than the verso.

KristinaM · 14/01/2008 13:00

we also have a Fiat multipla and have two baby seats and one booster seat in the back. its very easy for me to to get into teh back to fasten the children in their seats and i can get a double buggy in the boot

Fairly cheap for a people carrier - was £12K band new and only £250 pa to insure

i love it, Dh dislikes it as its not cool

NatalieJane · 14/01/2008 13:02

Oh good, now I can really put my foot down with him

Bless him, I am making him out to be an ogre, he isn't, he just likes Clarkson, Hammond and the other one too much me thinks.

Speaking of which, can I get two car seats and a booster in the back of an Astin Martin DB9? Do ya reckon? I wish!!!!

We have a peugeot 807, and it comfortably fits 3 full size car seats in back.
