Bedside crib - why doesnowhere sell these ?

Having a vain hunt for a bedside crib - can only find one place online and nowhere where I can go see one.

Decided I definitely want a bedside cot/crib for no 2, also feel that baby will be safer sleeping in one than in a moses basket that can be tipped by his 2 year old brother.

Decided on a crib as it takes up less room and seems less of a faff to raise the side for daytime sleeps - from looking at the bedside cots you have to pull the whole cot away from the bed to get the side up again.

Has anyone found somewhere that sells the bedside cribs?

Also , I hoping to get 6 months out of the crib (then move to a cotbed in baby's own room) - is this realistic?
If not, I guess I would be better with a bedside cot.

Hi ScotGirl,

I seem to be quickly becoming an advocate for a co-sleeper bassinet that I got put onto by my sister who lives in the States. I had one for my oldest and am now using it for my youngest, who is a very big one (in 2-3 year old clothes!!). It's called an Arm's Reach Universal Co-Sleeper bassinet and it is now here in the UK too. It's pretty new to the UK, but it is in several stores as well of LOADS of places online. You can also see it/buy it from their main website at www.armsreach.co.uk.

It attaches to your bed and can also be a free standing bassinet and a play pen and a travel cot. It can last until you want to put your baby in a regular bed if you want it to. I didn't have much trouble with raising and lowering the side, though I didn't need to do it for a long time, either, as neither of my boys crawled or pulled up particularly early.

Anyway, just a thought! Good luck with your looking!

We got nearly 7 months out of our Global bedside crib 2.6 years ago. Global I think went out of business as nowhere seemed to sell them after we bought ours. You can sometimes pick them up on ebay though. We sold ours there for about a third of its price.
