Hello ladies, I'm looking to purchase 6 mixed red wines for my boyfriends birthday, a week today. Do you have any recommendations?

He likes Barola!

I'm not a wine drinker myself so would really appreciate some input.

Thanks in advance.

Up to how much are you willing to spend per bottle?

Do you have a Tesco Clubcard? They are currently offering 25% off 6 bottles, but I think it's for Clubcard members. Maybe you could sign up in-store on the spot.

They do a nice Spanish red which is good value at around £6. It is NOT a Rioja, but a Caraneno called Marques de Carano. (I've missed some tilde accents off the spelling because I can't remember where they go!) They used to sell it in several quality levels, and it's important to get Gran Reservado, the best grade. It's got a black label, with that trendy (pretentious?) metal wire wrapping that some Spanish wines have. I think they are currently selling the 2018 vintage.
PS: Like many Spanish and South American reds, it really benefits from being allowed to breathe for a bit before drinking - even if it's just ten minutes in the glass.

Thanks. I think I have found the one you mean on the Tesco website. I'll grab one of these bottles too so he has a variety.
