BABY MONITORS - what is the best buy for around 40 quid or less?

We need to get a baby monitor - dont' need anything super fancy, just something with the lights that show if the baby is moving around and making noise, plus a night light would be good but not essential. We don't want to spend more than 40 quid. thanks

avoid rechargeable -my tomy one never stayed charged very long and always ended up plugged in anyway.

I got a tixylix one for £9.99 - thought I would give it a go first, see what else I needed on a monitor and then buy a decent one.
Ds is 8 months and we are still using it. Dont think its digital but it has 2 channels - we've never had any problems with interference, night light on baby bit. Honest its grand.

For the first 4 months we had ds in his moses basket in the middle of the living room then took him to bed when we went up so didnt need it at all, then we started putting him in his cot of a night so we used it then. We dont bother once we go to bed though - he's only in the next room - if he wants us to hear him then we do - no doubt

I fot a fisher price one for about £20-30 I think. It's fine. Baby unit is a nightlight, parent unit can be mains or battery.

I second the Fisher Price one. £19.99 from Toys R Us.

I got a BT one (new) on ebay for around £37, they are normally a bit more I think.

It has been really good, no interference, volume control, lots of alarms if anything's not plugged in as it should be.

The 'receiver' is rechargable, it only lasts about 4 hours but that is fine for evenings for us, then it gets taken upstairs at bed time and put into its charging socket.
