Maclaren XLR/XT Vs Silver Cross Pop

So, our choices have boiled down to these 2.
(really want the XLR as its roomier and comes with cosy toes instead of paying extra like i would with the XT-i know they are pretty much the same otherwise)

Can i have 'RL' reviews please? good points? bad points?

Hi - I don't have one I'm afraid but want the same advice - hope you don't mind me hopping on your thread!
Particularly anyone who has the xlr with compatible recaro car seat....
Any pros & cons really welcome

I'd be interested in opinions too, so bump...

the XLR is big. its roomier yes, but takes up loads more room than an XT. i have an XT and my almost 3 year old fits in it fine with plenty of room. she slept soundly in it last week for two hours. i found the XLR handles too high, and the apron (not footmuff) wasnt warm enough in the winter.

i love the XT, it really is a good stroller and does everything you need, and can be pushed easily with a toddler in it.

havent had a pop though.

bump for me aswell

DS is 31 lbs. Will he be too heavy to push an XLR/XT easily?

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 18:44

i haven't a clue what my ds weighs but he's 3yrs exactly and again he happily fits and has slept in the xt, its a fab buggy, i have gone to sell it twice but am keeping hold of it as it does everything you need. xlr seat bigger than xt's but do check they will fit in your car boot as v.long for an umbrella fold, if it does great roomy buggy for a toddler.

i had a pop and it just doesn't compare, not so nice to push, i would say it only compares to a quest rather than an xt/xlr.

as misdee has said the 2008 xlr's only come with an apron and the new 2009 xlr's come with nothing!

JackJacksmummy · 14/01/2009 18:52

I've had a techno XT and a silver cross pop and the XT wins by miles.

for a start the pop is more comparable to a quest but even then a quest wins.

The brakes on the pop were non existant whereas the brakes on the newer style XTs are perfect. The wheels on the pop are awful my pop is 5 months old and the back wheels have worn down so they are all slanty and it makes pushing REALLY hard and heavy. Plus if you happened to have to be running with the buggy after an older pre-schooler then the front wheels are all over the place, i tend to have to pull the front wheels up so its just going on its back wheels.

The only positive i have for mine was that its the wasabi colourway which is green, black and silver so quite nice to look at.

XLR not the same as the XT at all IMO....much bigger, heavier (to lift and push), much less nippy. Perhaps the Classic if you like the popper on apron, which is useful, if only to catch things and keep a pretty cosytoes in place which you need anyway .

nappyaddict · 14/01/2009 18:55

nicola - which is easier to push xt or xlr?

nicolamumof3 · 14/01/2009 18:58

i've not had an xlr nappy sorry.

3girlies · 14/01/2009 21:31

Don't bother with the pop - I had one and it was rubbish, Techno XT should do everything you need.
HTH.

nappyaddict · 15/01/2009 11:33

XLR is heavier to push and steer but lies flatter than the XT. Tough decision.
